I have a question about the Rules on devinart
I don't know when it was but I was reading the rules and they say that you when you upload pic that they are free to use
do I need to put credits if I take some pics

Moved to design and dev.

Also I know a lot of people on DeviantArt use the place as somewhere to display their abilities and get contracts to do art, but I have no idea if whatever is put there is immediately just FREE TO USE. I'd assume no, but I have no idea. I'm sure the original author would appreciate credit at least, and you should definitely ask before just using something, especially since they might know the exact legalities/rules of that better than people on this random forum.

I'd close this and tell you to ask there, but I have no idea if they even have a forum or place for you to ask...

Please note that when you upload Content, you allow third parties to copy, distribute and display your Content.

but it could be that I misunderstood this

yes they have but I didn't wanted to register till im not sure

That means you're giving the ability for anyone to be able to do those above things. However, you can set certain copyright licenses on your work that prohibit people from doing things attributed to the license type. Like a restricted license only allow people to use your work with your permission and their's many other types that you can set to set different restrictions on your work.

You should ask the artist on DeviantArt if it is ok to use or not, and if they say no, no matter what the site says, you should listen to them.

[EDIT]
Oh, misunderstood. If you are really paranoid of your stuff, I wouldn't put it up on dA. :\

By third party, they probably mean their sponsors, and by their sponsors, its probably someone who won't touch your work.

I've seen professional work on Deviant art, and that means that either they're stupid for putting it on Deviant Art, or that no one cares enough/won't touch em because they won't/don't need to.

You still retain all copyrights on Deviant Art that you don't expressly surrender, and furthermore I do not believe the "third party" described there is in any way translatable to "any and all members of the general public." I for one would be extremely irate if I saw unlicensed copies of any of my work displayed at deviant art anywhere else, especially if I didn't like how they were being used!

Just sign up, and ask the question. No one can steal your work if you don't upload any.

Personally, I think you're reading waaay too much into it.

When you upload something, you can select from license choices. You can always add a copyright notice in the description of the item.

Oh, you mean by simply posting a picture anywhere?
On a forum, on a website like deviant art, on your own website (usually professional), anywhere?
Its like the germs, you can't escape it.

What they mean when they say 'they can post it anywhere' or something to that effect is that DeviantArt reserves the right to use your picture as an example of something, or as advertisement, but not much more than that. I'm not even sure I'm phrasing this properly, but that's the basic gist of it.
You're reading a bit too far into it.
