[DEMO] The Legend of Zelda : Waves of Time

Uhh... Minish Cap? Vaati, I didn't see any Ganon in there, but a new villain would be a very nice change although they usually have the same structure. Not so uber form, and uber last boss form, perhaps you could flip it around a bit and make it fun. Also about the Toon Link sprite, he's too tall, compare normal and Toon Link in Brawl, big height difference. And his hat is pillow shaded?

The story looks crap tbh, the waves of time bit seems interesting but it seems you'll be fighting and fighting, find and close waves of times, fight some more then kill a boss, game end. More information on what you'll be fighting for would be useful oh and getting the holy water or whatever at the start of the game? It's like getting the master sword at the start, it just seems too easy, at least hunting it down would give more reason for the first few dungeons and would make your game a lot less linear.

My overall thoughts on this are still pending but it could shape into something well, also, if you make the battle system a lot more interesting than the plug and play it would be alot of fun. A hookshot would be good, it'd make puzzles a lot more fun.

Yeah, with the story and all, that's not it. That's just the overview of what we have so far. We have the first part, and the main objective. Don't worry about it. I have a whole story team helping me :P It'll be a LOT more complex than that. Aaaand, I don't know what your talking about with the holy water..... Oh you mean the stuff the goddesses gave the Links? Because that's not at the start, that's after the second dungeon (approx)

With the script thing, it's not completely plug in and play (I change a LOT of stuff and of course make my own enemies, attacks and stuff like that) but I really don't get a lot of that RGSS mumbo jumbo. Sure I get some of it to an extent where I can change things to fit my game, but if someone would like to help me with scripting things like the hookshot you mentioned into it, that'd be amazing :D.

With the sprites, yeah, I am working on them. When I first posted there were a couple, then I updated with a little more, then I added what I have now. So yes, I am working on it, I'd just like some help to make it go faster (I have 9 days till the loose deadline!) while I'm working on the actual game part of it.

Don't rush cos you just wanna post stuff up here, you can take your time the topic will always be here to bump back up. Also good to hear that you're really putting the work in, I'll be sure to try this out when there's a demo.
 
I'm not rushing because of bumping. Not that at all. The deadline's really soon and all, and I just want to make sure I can be finished with as much as I can. It kinda sucks too, because I'm really busy with school stuff, so whenever I'm on my comp, it's making my game.
 
Looks great in my opinion! I do kinda understand the rules. (think about all the projects that haven't even been started that would be posted. = flooded forum) I'm kinda new here and i do have to say that is the best looking HUD i've seen so far. ***** 5 stars for me :) I can't wait till you get a spriter.
 
Hey all!

I've got some more screenshots for you! YAY!! I used my new link sprites (only have the ones shown... I still need more...) so once I get those sprites and finish my HUD setup (which I'm almost finished with), I'll take more screens than you can shake a stick at. Or uhh... a computer mouse at... so there you go. A little taste :wink:

What do you mean blurry? They look fine to me. If they look a tad blurry to you, then you can blame photobucket for resizing them oddly (maybe)

and it's not contrast, it's called a cave.

Those screens look very under done. Why so blurry? Also what the hell's up with the third one? Wayyyyy too much contrast.
 
The conceptual demo will most likely be up next tuesday, and I'm not using Zelda tilesets because I want my game to be different from other Zelda Games. After I'm finished with the demo and a couple other specs, I'll work on making the rtp all Wind Waker-esque, but I'm going to try using as much custom stuff as possible.

Hopefully I'll be able to finish the demo in time. I still need those sprites... and that's actually about it :tongue: I should be able to do it by then. Thanks for your interest, guys! It's really keeping my spirits up with this game!
 
Thanks man, but I'm looking for something a little less anime-ish. I might use some of those tileset pieces though. Thanks for the help :D
 
Hello again! I've made a new post just to say that I've finally finished the sprites! yay! No thanks to you! :P just kidding, but yeah, I did do this all by my lonesome. Now that I'm finished with both my sprites and my HUD, it's time to move soley on to the demo levels. Once I finish that, I'll take lots and lots of screens, and post them here along with.... *drumroll* the demo! The NCFC starts tomorrow, and the demo and screens will be posted on my site (I'll post them here too) so I hope you're as excited as I am!

I'm surprised I haven't seen this topic before. I'm always a little judgmental, especially for fangames and remakes, but the storyline is what I love the most. I know you've probably got a lot of the story and whatnot done already, but when the toon Link and TP Link meet in the TP universe (I presume) don't you think that toon Link should look realistic while stuckin the TP universe? Also, if TP Link makes his way into the WW universe, you should make him cartoon-y too. That would make it a little bit more realistic, artistically, and wouldn't confuse people like Kingdom Hearts [wtf anime models + cartoons in same world = huh?]

Man, this definitely sounds like an awesome concept. But will you be able to choose which Link you control, or will it all be based on certain events within the game?

But anyways, I've posted 15 brand new screenshots of my game, with the completed sprites and HUD! If you see anything wrong with the game through those screenshots, please let me know so I can fix them! I'm currently working hard on completing the demo, so that'll be up tonight at the latest.
