Contributed. Your dog is adorable, and it was very noble of you to adopt a troubled dog. You have to know, though, that malamute-mixes--especially ones with anxiety issues--require ridiculous amounts of attention. When all of this is over, you should really consider signing him up in some sort of planned activity, where he is forced to interact with other dogs, whether at a dog park, or at some dog-related event.
Malamutes, huskies, and any wolf hybrids are more social than most dogs. They require someone, or something, to be around them at all times. If there are long stretches of time when he won't have anyone around, you HAVE to find alternate care for him. Think of him like a toddler. He needs daycare. There are dog walkers who work for like $20/week, which is cheaper than any daycare you'd find if you had a kid.
At the very least, if you do find that you need to part with him for one reason or another, PLEASE don't send him back into the Humane Society system. There are no-kill shelter organizations, dog rehab clinics, and all sorts of other alternatives, if you only take the time to do the research. They would jump at being able to care for such a beautiful and useful dog.
