Dawn of Darkness

This is a game that I've been working on now for about 1 year and 8 months. It was quite hard to accomplish due to the fact that my team wasn't really all that much of a team and since 2k3 has a number of restrictions...

This Is a game that I've wanted to release now for a long time and yes, I know it's on an old system but I wanted to get it out there and Finish a game. It's not very often that a full game is actually released on the forums. ^_^. Well to my knowledge anyway.

I wanted to make a game that I noticed there aren't many of on the forums. a long game. This is a full game and with my most recent play though (Rushing of coarse) it took me a total of 40 hours.

Characters
Matt
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Party Role: Science/Info
Element Affiliations: Wind, Ice, Gravity, Metal (Sword Moves)
Weapons: Swords, Some guns
Aura: Chaos
Birth Place: Macalm
Religious/Science: None (Has own belief system)
About: Matt is pretty easy going but still believes in righteousness. He really doesn't care much for any main issues but loves to learn and gain information. Matt enjoys screwing off and would rather nap then go on an epic adventure, although the second it becomes a challenge he instantly joins the game and proves that he's better at it no matter what it is. It's easy to set off his ego, and once he makes up his mind he sticks to it.

Back Story: Matt wasn't a key player in any of the current events that have happened recently around the world. He's more just along for the ride more then anything. He later finds out in the story that he has a bigger involvement then he originally thought. It turns out that he has been passively in contact with his old friend Terry a lot longer then he originally thought. Later he begins to investigate the souls to find out what they truly are and how they work. This investigation becomes crucial in the second game.

Terry
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Party Role: Magics, lot's of magics.
Element Affiliations: Fire, Darkness, Artificial (Unique man made magic that is quite rare and hard to master.)
Weapons: Staffs
Aura: Darkness
Birth Place: Birth Place Unknown (At begging of game)
Religious/Science: None (Has own belief system)
About: Terry is doesn't really care much about outside problems and tends to be very selfish. Can come off as a bad guy at times although deep down inside he means good... I think... Tends to take a more passive battling style then that normally used Matt and Chris. His strong magics have given him a very interesting past that has to do with the current turn of events. He tries to keep away from his past and tries to look only to his future but as we all know you can't run from your past forever, though this makes him a bit of an out cast to the other characters who are trying to find out about there past and fix their future. He's sarcasm tends to be quite comical but in the end he's only trying to hide the fact that he's afraid about the truth and his involvement in whats to come...

Back Story: Terry once worked for an organization that was bent on research on Genesis and the past Chaos Knights. He was very gifted at a young age and for a strange reason he was always had the power to absorb large amounts of aura from nearby bodies, (He basically has lots of MP sap skills) and because of this he found magic quite easy to master. At the age of fourteen he already had a wide arrangement of magics. He joined the organization at 18 and soon left after he found out that he was being used to father magic and biogenic research for the organization.

Chris
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Party Role: Basically the Main Character
Element Affiliations: Water, Earth, Light, Atmospheric (Basically water and wind weather moves)
Weapons: Spears, Swords, Staffs, some Guns
Aura: Light
Birth Place: Aruratus
Religious/Science: Science (Still has some religious beliefs)
About: Chris is one of the most noble characters in the game and is very strict. He lightens up as the story progresses but he likes to keep things on track and going in the right direction. Likes to help other people but doesn't like to stray away from the main objective of the time and due to this makes him like to turn down prolong side quest. Besides the fact that he's pretty much a wet blanket at times he is one of the most active members in your base party playing a major roll through out the whole game.

Backstory: Chris was once part of a great clan that lived on the beaches of the south western continent. He was a lancer learning the ways of his clan when they came under attack by the organization. The organization eradicated the entire clan except for Chris who now lives to seek revenge on the organization that has caused him so much pain. He later is taken in by the elder in Macalm. He protected the city for a long time before he met up with Matt, Terry, and Beth. He believes that Religion leads people only to dismay and believes that science is the only way to go. His belief is derived from the fact that his clan was destroyed for their beliefs. This belief for science makes it hard living with the Elder in Macalm seeing how the Elder believes that religion is the only thing keeping the city alive! Being the oldest at 20 he has the most divers past, although he doesn't care much to share his past with the others.

Beth
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Party Roll: Holy Alignment
Element Affiliations: Thunder, Nature, Light
Weapons: Hand to Hand (Fist, Gloves, Claws, Ect.), Staffs, Some Swords
Aura: Light
Birth Place: Macalm
Religious/Science: Religion (For the most Part)
About: Beth is a very nice and friendly character. She's basically a tree huger but no one in the group tends to hold it against her. She doesn't like to fight but she's actually one of the most balanced character. She's fast, strong, good with magic, and best of all a great healer. She is really the only one out of the group with any faith in religion and in the gods. Out of the group she is the only one with a clear past and has nothing to repent for, and because of this she tends to spend time in the minds of the others and in Memoria (You'll here more about Memoria later) Helping them fix their problems. Little dose she know that her clear path isn't really a gift as much as it is a curse...

Back story: Beth hasn't really have a back story. She lived in Macalm with Matt for most of her life. She once lived in the nearby kingdom were she was being raised as a priestess. She has a strong grip with holy matters and has a strong light about here that makes here very responsive to the souls. Because of this she was moved to Macalm with the Earth soul were her and Matt have watched over it since.

Bruce
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Party Roll: Main form of transportation till you get the Dragon.
Element Affiliations: Thunder, Water
Weapons: Swords and Hand to Hand
Aura: Weak Light
Birth Place: ??? No one knows...
Religious/Science: Religion (Kind of)
About: He's a secondary character that you seek out during the game. He owns a boat that you wish to use the cross the seas early in the game. He's easy going and often talks about the places that he's been. Later though you find out his deep dark secret... It turns out that...
Well I'm not going to tell you quite yet but it has to do with the organization.

Screen Shots

Every game needs screen shots right? Well here are some. I know there not impressive but what can a guy do?

Since you can't show everything in screen shots here's an actual demo of the game from a while back ago. Sadly the quality of the video is lacking, but I think it get's the point across.

Story
It's been a while now since anything exciting has happened in the world. Things have been so called calm for over a century since the last war to take place in the land. Again the hero's find them self's walking around the random caves in the mountains North of town searching for the soul to start up the annual ritual used to protect the city form fiends. Although no one knows the origin of the fiends or why they attack cities, people simply follow the practices and every thing seems to go fine. This time however monsters pour into the city and attack innocent people. This along with the arrival of a strange man has led things to get interesting. It's time to pack up the bags and find out what's really going on in the world.

History

Not necessary but it makes the game a hell a lot easier to understand. All of what's below also get's even farther explained in the game. ^_^. No need to read it all if you do btw, just skim read.

Alright then let’s start with the History. Well it all starts back 100 years ago... The world was In turmoil and no one knew where to turn to for salvation. Wars ran rampant and a power vacuum in the main kingdom of the time has caused hardships in even the royal family. No one knew quite were to turn. With no answers from the royal family all seemed lost. Finally, one clan called the Aruratus came forth with the only plausible answer. The Aruratus clan was that of god and was well known for its people’s faith and bravery, and stated to the royal families that the gods were displeased with the turn out of the world and wish to offer salvation to those who were faithful.

With the Aruratus running the show the royal family decided that retribution to the gods was necessary. Soon the kingdoms slashed down rioting villages and burned down enemy clans all in the name of "Peace".

The god's who have created such a slaughter by an accidental action were shocked. Why would the Royal families do such a thing? The world was growing restless and time was slowly decaying the land and its people into a simple war torn horror show. The god were getting desperate and created the precious items known as the souls to repel enemy forces and act like a barrier to shield the royal families and the Aruratus and the rest of the faithful from the villages and nearby kingdoms that have been causing such chaos. Along with the souls two great demigods were created in order to purge the land and restore the order of the world. Demonacus was created to destroy those who were marked evil and barbaric. While the creator of new life, Genesis, was created to protect the lives of those who were marked holy and faithful.

Demonacus roamed the kingdoms destroying everything that was in his wake. Forest burned and the skies turned black as the monster roamed the land. Genesis could only watch as the monster destroyed the lands. She watched as the innocent died and the lands turned to blight. She watched and waited... She could do nothing. Anger grew inside of her. She hated what has become to this wonderful place and all the royal family did was sit. Sit in their castle and laugh as they were lucky to be chosen by the gods... She became resentful, and started to hate the royal family and the gods.

She wanted to seek revenge on the gods and to destroy them and all that they stand for. Genesis wondered that land seeking out Demonacus. As she traveled though the town she meets up with a young man. He was morbid for his family had just been slain by the very monster she was searching for. He too was fun of anger towards the gods and wished to seek his revenge on them for what they have done to his friends and his family.

The young man with the help of Genesis banned up his fellow clans men and formed the Chaos Knights. The Knights set out the fight Demonacus and to end this madness. In the end they finally arrived that the resting place of the gods, the Tower of Damian. As they claimed the highest of the tower they faced horrors and obstetrical that they couldn't even comprehend. At the end of their travels only the young man and Genesis remained. With the last of their strength they sealed Demonacus in the tower.

Demonacus was forever sealed in the tower but the dim truth has set upon them. Genesis and the Young man had failed to reach the gods. As the two left the tower the young man, battered and beaten, stared to the top of the tower. He grasped his sword and remarked that he would never get up until he got his revenge on the gods and the Aruratus clan.

100 years later the gods are still the worshiped and once a year the surviving clans have a ritual to celebrate the god's protection from the monsters out in the wild and the from the evils that fill the world.

About the Game
The game is sadly... Not the best game I've ever created, however it is the first full game... I felt restricted by 2k3 and it didn't allow me to do as much as I wanted (For instance a lot of art work). The game is already been designated a sequel =D and it will be much... much better. I just wanted to stick to my guns and finish the game!

NOW then for the actual game...

DOWNLOADS

Yes... the size is a massive (I guess) 162 MB. The game was originally 325 MB so at least I got it down from that ^_^.

Here are two current download links for the game. If anyone knows anyother host that allow uploads of 162 MB or higher then please inform me and I'll add them to the list.

HOW TO TOGGLE FULLSCREEN

F4 = Toggle's full screen
F5 = Toggle's Size out of full screen. (Original or 25%) (For those bad at math that's 50% smaller width and height)
F3 or F2 = Toggle Soft Reset

If there are any or you need any help on were to go or how to beat a boss just ask.

The Site -=MODS!!!=-

One big thing this game has is MODS. It's open source (I'm not including the editor =P I don't think I'm allowed to do that on this site anyhow) so a lot of people I know and maybe others are already working on MODS. Because of this I would like to share it with the rest of you and not bog down the forums.

I'm not going to post a direct link to the site of coarse! But as we start filling up the game with MODS. I'll post the links to the mods here =D. See sig if you want a link to the site...

=MODS=

-None (The game was just released lol)

Last Words

For those of you who actually play the game best of luck! ^_^ I will offer full support. Also here a few hints for how to beat the game.

THE BIG ONE: WEAKNESS AND RESISTANCE

Every Boss, Enemy and ally in the game is weak and resistant to the several elements in the game. THIS WILL MAKE a hard boss fight a simple one if you just use some simple strategy and try out diff elements.

DESCRIPTIONS

Please read what items do before you use them. Most of my beta testers didn't...

LEVEL UP

Often times a single level up will give you abilities that will turn the tide of battle easily.

Also if I'm forgetting anything or you have any complainants fell free to open up the "Constructive Criticism" because the only way we can truly learn is by having others point out our flaws.

Well I hope you enjoy the game!

The game seems pretty cool though that boss vid looked like a boring, boring, boring fight. I'll see if I can try it out tomorrow. I also have a quick question: since this is supposedly finished, are you taking comments and seeing if you can fix them in this game to make it better, or just "leaving this game" and compiling all the good stuff for the sequel?

1. I tried to make boss fights a lot more interesting now as I could. I tried making them on the edge and difficult. Sadly you can't add any scripts to 2k3 so the battle system hasn't changed form the video. BTW the video is a BETA video form like August, about half way into the games production. A lot of things have changed just to let you know =D.

2. I will fix anything in this game that you find wrong. YES it is full of terrible spelling and grammar. Most of which is from parts were I had to go to school or something and I tried to rush it. I'm having a friend correct it but it will take some time... Anything else that you find wrong with it I will fix ASAP or anything that you would like NEW to the game I'll add as a mod. I.E.: If you want a new window color something.

BTW the first mod being worked on is a HARDER game Patch. It will make every enemy in the game more difficult =D.

Have fun playing the game if you get around to it!
I'm going to be working on the 2ed, but as I said anything you want changed I can do pretty easily.

So just a few points while I'm playing the game.

  • spelling and grammar. I know you said this before but wow, there's probably 50 before the players even start to play. There's one when you talk to the fairy to save as well.
  • why the need for full screen? I personally don't MIND it, it's just that windowed mode allows me to multi-task so much easier
  • in the beginning cinematic after it says "One year later..." and shows all those random scenes; in the pub scene the man near the door looks like he's kind of glitched... looked like he's humping the door
  • in the cave you start in, why are the entrances so ... ugly? They just look like squares of brown
  • this part is hard to explain. When you're walking slowly down paths that are near a waterfall, at the end there's a mini-cave that has blue crystals on top and you "cut away the vine". This is fine, but when you enter you're in the middle of what seems to be a WIDE WIDE WIDE sort of cavern thing. This doesn't really make any sense
  • some rocks the hero can walk through for some reason
  • if matt and terry's job was just to get the soul pillar / soul essence or whatever, why did they go to the cave in another way instead of the one that is practically BESIDE their town?
  • some things (besides rocks) I figured out are ALSO walk-through able. For example, if I go to the left most side of the town, I can actually get outside the town and see all the grass and such that was left untouched (so yes, I could go to the mountains and advance through the storyline lol)
  • why would Beth and them run into a cave after the ritual incident? I mean a cave usually has monsters... also they refer to their town as a city. IT ISN'T CLOSE TO A CITY!
  • why is there a royal seat in a cave (the part where you meet up with Beth and them and find the save point / healing spot)?
  • beginning (cave) seems to rushed imo. You're immediately fought off with a boss-like foe and you hardly get enough time to look through all your options imo
  • monster speaks too much slang (the first green goblin you meet during ritual incident)
  • if the rituals happen annually, where do the soul essences keep coming from and what does the elder do with it (dispose of it .. how?)

edited to add a few points.

Lol thanks for all of the remarks Anopob. I really do appreciate the criticism.

BTW here are some functions that might help. ^_^;

Windows ->
F4 = Toggle Fullscreen
F5 = Toggle HD or 1:1 size. (1:1 is a tad small but has much, much better quality)
F3 or F2 = Toggle Soft Reset

Hope that helps for one.

2. Spelling is being worked on. In the squeal that I'm working on as my team fixes this one, contains much improved grammar. Even though (Sadly) English is my native language I spell better in the language I'm learning. I've been putting a lot of work in this area now for years and it keeps getting better... ^_^; And again, don't worry it's being worked out.

3. The mapping for the first dungeon was actually one of the newest maps. My friend encouraged me to change it a month before the release... I actually put a great deal of work into it but the flow of the map doesn't make much sense I know... =P.

4. Terry hitting the pub... I never found that in my testing. He should walk in and disappear then get kicked out of the pub then stop. Is he going into the pub and is it just looping?

5. Good point the City/Town part never really caught my attention...

6. With the seat I kinda was planning on making that area a "Storage area" and that's why they hid in there...

7. Monster slang is just bad writing. More directed towards the poor and sad cognitive skills of my target group (My school) I swear its T.V.'s effect on our generation.

8. The ritual happening annually thing was a GOOD point! Me nor my testers ever thought about that. This is why it's always nice to have outside views on this, since at the time it all makes sense to us because we know the entire story in advanced.

Please keep playing I would love more incite! ^_^
I also want you opinion to the world map once you get to exploring it. I made it a tad big... 500 x 500 hehehe, but I use every part of it and I want to know (Since I'm starting the World map for the 2ed one soon) what I should change or keep the same.

Enjoy the game if you keep playing and thanks once again, for the feedback.
It's late and I was just checking in so I'll fix up the game tomorrow.

-Matt

*EDIT* Added a new download site in the download portion.

So I continued, and more things came to my mind immediately.

  • MUSIC. When you fight the blobs in the cave it still has the "peace" theme going on. It should be something like suspense or action
  • Why does Matt and Terry need to follow Chris? He was the only one that was kicked out
  • There's a house in the town that leads to a cave... what the? I mean it leads to a treasure chest but seriously...
  • Awkward positioning of certain props. A bed beside a bookshelf in the middle of a room somewhere? Hm... (I'm referring to the room where the elder is like GET OUT!!)
  • What's with the ridiculous difficulty? The slime blobs in the cave take like 15 minutes to kill, and the elves in the mountain can cast ice and I keep "triping" and failing to escape. Pissing me off how there's no pause during battle too
  • Finally found the inn, I guess that's why I had difficulty but I guess you're supposed to grind off elves for quite a while? It'd be pretty hard getting passed them..?
  • Coming out of the inn, the hero is one block down too much (cosmetic ofc)
  • Inn/healing circle should remove ailments, or at least the inn
  • Where do I... SAVE?

edit: The elder house outside has a kind of extension to the bottom left but once inside it's just straight?

To save, I actually had to run back to the first cave. Where is the next damn save point?? Also, monsters seem too hard since it's the only beginning. I mean I checked the shops and there's no better weapons I can buy (I bought gear but that's about it). Seems to be a real grindfest.

Thank you again for your input,

1. About the Music, again this is weird since it never happen to me... There is one bad glitch though That I just fixed with about the 3rd "boss fight" (The boss fight after the slimes) there is no music for the fight... So far that's the only music glitch we've found though. I'll look into it.

2. The mapping for the first town is rather bad I admit... The extension in the Elders house was originally another floor.
I just couldn't tile it with that set. (Go behind the bookshelf up the ladder, and go all the way down the dark hall till you get to a room. It's a secret my friend made)

3. Battles were never hard during the begging in my case. HOWEVER running was a real bitch until I got around the end of the first chapter... I can't really fix this it actually has to do with 2k3's style of making it harder to run the more enemies there are vs. your level. I always found that weird... As for the text, My friend was just Fing with people when he made the battle text, AS FOR THE PAUSE, simply click on another window and It will pause the game. Or you can minimize it and it auto pauses the same way. If this dosn't work then I don't know what's up, just go to the skill or item menu and that will pause the battle as long as you don't CLICK a skill or item. Hope that helps...

4.About the status aliments, good point... Never thought about that. the inn should tho.. That's weird...

5. About saving you can do it just about anywhere form the menu... Just click save. You should only have to use angles to save in areas that are dungeons and even this isn't always the case.

All the same thanks again for your feedback. I'll continue to work out the kinks and eventually release a better version. =D

1. I think you're thinking of other slimes. I mean slimes in the cave that you and the villagers run to after being attacked for the first time by monsters. You go in the cave, fight slimes, then it gets blocked by a mysterious man.

2. I got that secret, thanks. Just didn't make sense to me how there was an extension outside but not one inside.

3. Battles might not be "hard", but they're definitely taking up too much time imo. Thanks for the methods on pausing.

5. Damn, didn't know. I swear I checked the menu but I guess I was somewhere where I couldn't save. Thanks again!

  • I think the battle length I was talking about is because my characters always miss. I mean, is it like 75% miss chance or something? I like to conserve mana in most cases, so maybe this is why? | I tried magic, and yeah, it does make battles quicker. It's just that for me the characters use too much mana (I mean if it use it often in just wild battles) and therefore I save it up for any important upcoming battles
  • Why does Terry deal 0 dmg to slimes? Is it because of his weapon or something?
  • You say the "blue demon" has a weakness to ice... but I did 15 damage while most other spells did like ~30 damage. What's up with that? In fact, it seems he sucks ass against bolt/fire, but dominates against ice and aqua. Also, the way you have to fight him is INCREDIBLY stupid ("Guys, stop. Last night, I saw a demon, but he looked powerful.. Oh my look it's him let's fight what a coincidence that he shows up at the time I talk about him!!")
  • I DID game over because of the tsunami and the perma-slow Chris received near the beginning of the game, but I'm mainly mad because of how lame the dialog was. I tried the blue demon again and apparently he has these other mini-tsunamis too .. wow lame
  • How does Chris knows his weakness even though he says he was too scared to approach the demon?
  • Beth has no escape
  • The angel in the castle town to the right of the original town (not even sure if it's a town but whatever) needs to be in the ORIGINAL town. For realism, you should be adding guards and such as well as trees/flowers etc. outside the castle. I mean, once you're in the castle you can see the bare, bare outside (just grass?)
  • Why do the shape-shifting blobs decide to shapeshift and attack the king only when Chris and them are there? What the-?
  • Why would fire soul be in the ice cavern?
  • Why does ICE hurt my party? As in, when I step on ice tiles?
  • Overall, terraining and dialog needs to be improved. Chris (or Matt, not 100% sure which one) always says "Well that was easy!" after almost every important fight. I mean yeah there's nothing wrong with thinking positive but man he should be freaking tired/injured still. Also, everyone apparently always says something like "I fell ..." Someone FEELING something instead of knowing should not be the main storyline after every dialog in this case. For the terraining part, I always see too much blank areas of grass

Okay I'm going to do them out of order but It's just what comes to mind sorry if this is odd...

1. Beth has no escape because I ran out of room so she could have scan... In 2 there is an auto type like scan that everyone has all the time just to remove this one error... I know it bugs a lot of people but scan is rather useful so I left it in... When we were debating what to remove it was escape or items lol. We took the obvious choose.

2. The demon was a huge Writers convenience I'm not going to lie >.> Might just remove the fight altogether. It was the first fight I made and kept forgetting to remove it... It was back when the storyline was quite a bit different and that fight actually made some sense...

3. Thanks for the advice on Dialog and terrain... I'm trying to work on my over all skills as a game designer. I'm trying to incorporate better mapping and dialog in dawn of darkness 2. I'll come back and fix it in one to tho.

4. BATTLES
Battles are high skill maintenance. This is due mainly to the 2k3 style. Buy lots of mana pots when you can and the game is a lot easier.
IF YOUR GOING TO FIGHT then get the secret chest by the blue demon. Go on the minor plateau and look for a cave. Press enter on the cave and get the Areo blade. It has a wind elemental attack along with 2 hits. Also find the fairy in the first area and play hide and go seek. It's hard but offers quite a few upgrades.

In the end just stick to magic. It makes life easier. You start getting pots that heal everyone MP for a large number not to late in the game so until then it's a bit of suffering... sorry. The very begging chapter (1) and the very end chapter (11) are the two hardest in the game. Once you beat Lich the game get's a whole lot easier.

5. You go though the Ice cave to get to the Fire Cavern (Original names I know I wasn't very inventive at the start.) There you fight Lich and get the Fire soul.

Okay all an all, all of great use to me and I know I say this every time but thanks for your input. It's actually vary well done and you hit on A LOT of points I've missed. I'm working on the demo of 2 for now, after that I'll start fixing.

BTW would you like testing DoD 2 when I release the demo =D It's rather short at the moment and I do love your input. If your interested just P.M. Me or drop by our site.

4. BATTLES. Yeah I got some equipment it's just that I don't always check my inventory all the time so I must have missed it before I fought the demon (again). I am beginning to use more magic.

You missed certain things such as why ice on the floor hurts me when I'm an ice cavern btw. I also wouldn't mind help BETA-testing DoD2 as long as it fixes a BUNCH of mistakes in this one.

  • Pissed is a pretty .. pissed off status effect. Pretty imbalanced too imo because it lasts too long (3-4 turns doesn't seem long but it can really be lame if you're about to heal or something and BAM you're left with 100 or so life; really vulnerable)
  • If not mentioned previously, miss chance is way too high. I get the game is focused on magic but still
  • What are those ugly grass-looking tiles in the ice cavern? Does not fit at all
  • Is there ANY way I can goddamn remove Slow?

EDIT: Oh crap... I noticed an armor called Exodis Armor I had after some readjustments and it's like "slows you down (Slow)". Most likely I was wearing that but I'm not sure so my bad on that. Not sure when I equipped that though (or when I got it for that matter).

Also, Long Spear is 2 handed while Iron Spear isn't.

Hmmm I'm glad that the errors are at least dwindling...

1. About the ice... I forgot about that xD It was a test when I was playing with the tiles. I should remove it it only happens in one other area so ya...

2. I mixed the missing error... I have no idea why your missing. Once you get to Hamaru (The town by the fire cave) upgrade your weapons and see if that works. However the characters have a 100% Hit rate and the weapons have a 95% hit rate so I don't see how that would be so bad...

3. Pissed status effect = Ya I know ^_^ it pisses a lot of people off too! Might make it last a few less turns and make the heal rate from 25% to 50% when your hit. That might help along with lowering it by 1 or 2 turns.

There are no grass tiles... Not any that I know about...

Glad you found out about the slow. As I said try to read discriptions. A lot of stuff can be easy to miss! =D

Errors: It's diminishing because I'm playing the game less and less, it's too hard (not really, but time-consuming) at the current state. I'm stuck in the current ice cavern (again, not really stuck, just don't want to spend 30 minutes running around looking for exit killing monsters), so I can't really get "uber good weapons" at fire town.

The grass tiles I am talking about look like rock-like things.. it's in the 2nd part of the ice cavern. You immediately see them and they do not fit. At all!

Anopob. I'm going to Revise the game over the weekend. Going to look over the encounter rates, weapon hit rates, monster statuses ect. and take all of your revisions in check. ^_^

I'll re release it after the weekend and it will be a lot easier. A lot of people are complaining about how hard the start is and about a few errors you also called out so I hope I can fix it all.

Also I'll add some weapons to the start area. That should also help out a bit. ^_^

Thanks for all of your help mate.
