Darkly's Music Compositions

Hello, there. I use Midi Maker to make my music. I'm kinda new to it, but I'm hoping criticism will help me improve.

First Song
To me, depending on the pitch, I can see this song being for the desert--maybe desert town--or something underground, be it cave, cave/town, et cetera. Where do you think this song would fit?
It seems to me some more variation could improve this song, but what do you all think?

I hope you want an honest critique...

I don't mean this to sound bad, but by the time I finished listening to it, I was wishing it would be over sooner. It's because it's too monotonous. It's not a bad concept for a musical piece, it's just that the tones lack variety. There is a long stretch in the middle of the same rhythm that repeats itself over and over... And each set of tones in the song does that at least a little, only the middle is worst.

I would recommend adding more tones to flesh out the sound of the song and mix it up a little on the changeovers, adding a bridge here or there if you can to break up the monotone sounds in the longer stretches.

Overall it's a good piece, just add some more variety to the sounds used and it should be good game material.

Please forgive my harsh critique, I only mean it to help you!

Best wishes!

wow ... I'm not holding any punches on this one. I don't like it. At all.

The sounds don't work well together at all and there's virtually no layering of sound. It's very bland, repetitive and if there is a melody to be found it's twisted and peculiar. It's not cave like or desert like, if anything it's clock tower-ey because of the -very- dominant bell ringing. It needs more layers, more harmony and better composition. Read up on some music theory It'll help you tremendously.

Points for effort and trying, points for putting yourself out there on the slab to be dissected, but I really can't say anything good about this I'm sorry. Practice up, do your homework and try again.

It is the beginner's syndrome, really, and to be honest, music theory won't help a lot. It might show you directions and slightly speed up your composing skills, but practice is everything. I can pretty much hear through the monotonious instability and I was certainly not as good on my first try.

I dont see anything wrong with this, I mean, this would be great for a spooky tower or dungeon of some sort. Very nice, the whole thing. SO puting this in my game. (thats when i decide to start putting the custom stuff in it lol) Great work! :D Speaking of desert's, kinda reminds me a little of ocarina of time, gerudo desert. lol

sure, dont worry lol might be a bit until i actually put anything non-rtp but scripts in my game until i knw what im doing.
