It is such ashame that this nation must rely
on children. Well I must be going. My troops
are ready to seek and destory!

also an "is this game good" poll

are you serious

how will the result have any significance or actually impact your decisions

if you want to know what people think so far, read their posts???

the only situation where a poll's useful if you actually have a specific thing you want an opinion on, and it easily condenses to a few simplified choices. you can't condense all someone's thoughts and ideas about a game they see into a few three-letter responses and get a result that means anything at all.

also "destory" isn't the only thing wrong with that. your dialogue in general is just... ugh. it's mega typical. it's Power Rangers dialogue.

also the way they're written completely wrecks the flow and the illusion that maybe a real person is saying it. your writing is awkward and sometimes I honestly can't believe you've done some of the things you have ("until...." and then an ellipse which spills over from that line into the next and has nothing after it)

What do you think of Dark Chaos?
"It is an insult to Kefka."
"It is the greatest RPG game of all times!"

I don't know if I should take this poll seriously. Okay I know now: I shouldn't.

Well I know I can read the post to get some people's opinions. However some people never post so this is a way to get more feedback.

What is awkward about my witting?

but an opinion that just goes "this is good" or "this is bad" is useless.

also man just like read over the stuff you have and then read how people do dialogue in a book because goddamn those are the most stumbly speaking parts I've heard

Update!

This is the newest cut scene of the game. It introduces the new party member Jefferson and Captain Favre with his crew.

Story: Well, your story is odd and is cliche. So do the heroes magically find a way to defeat the unstoppable army. It makes no sense to be honest with you. Your characters are also pretty cliche as well. They dont have any outstanding and original qualities to them. They are bland in my opinion. Spicen them up by adding these traits and qualities. Also your characters seem completely off balanced when it comes to combat. You are not creating a balanced party. Back to the story. The story itself is cliche as well. A power hungry ruler tries to take over the land. Dont get me wrong, when executed properly this is a classic black and white tale that we all love and enjoy, but seeing as this is your first game, you dont have that experience required to make this happen. Its not your fault, its your first game after all, but this needs to be mentioned.

Making a game and making a story are two different topics. Anyone can make a good story, but make a bad game. Anyone could make a good game, but make a bad story. Are you going to tell a writer who is new to RPG Makers, that he is not experienced enough to make a story in a game?

Now to time for the update. As some of you know I had to start my project over. It is a slow process now because I am going to school. So here is a new video of the intro. All of the older videos were deleted.

yes.

brotip: you need to be good at both. a jrpg is not going to be rescued from a lame story by impressive gameplay. the only tools at your disposal are plot, atmosphere, character development, and making sure the gameplay doesn't annoy people so much they give up.

you can't say WELL I'M INEXPERIENCED. you obviously think you're ready for the world if you're making a game topic, so you're gonna be subject to the same standards as everyone else.

oh whoops heh I think I misread it

yeah I don't agree with bacon that you're too inexperienced and therefore will fail. it's all a matter of practice.

i think its quite good to be your first rmvx game... but not superior... i just wish my grammar was good... and i just want to be nice...

Ridiculous.

I just looked back through the previous posts. Back in May, I told you that you need to improve your mapping and make your maps smaller and use the correct tiles. Seeing in your new cliche-story trailer, you still have not improved. Here's my advice:

Take a break, look over a few tutorials. Maybe improve your story a little to make it less cliche. "There was once peace in the world, and now there's evil." That's old and overused by most new users. Work on your maps, just because the height and width is 17 x 13, it does not mean you have to feel the space. Try to add some variation. Squares aren't attractive. I hope you take my advice. Oh, and one last thing. I am fine with RTP, but it would be nice if you could get at least a custom character set for your main character? Nobody likes Aluxes any more.

edit
Also, before you decide to pull the "I'm new" card, I advise you don't. If you keep believing that and using it as an excuse you will never improve.

Oh, and for the "Rpg Maker VX is square and limited" card, You can make it work. I made this in VX: viewtopic.php?f=78&t=65901
It really isn't that difficult, just practice.

-Read slowly. Dr's orders.

Honestly I would just say, leave it as it is.
Let's face it, everyone's first game is bad. Really, it's just like that. I think you have to make the cliche story, underdevelpoed characters etc. in order to improve later.
Don't get discouraged. We all started like that. If I was you I wouldn't worry about all that, just enjoy making the game, because that's what it's about right?
I'm not saying don't take any advise, because without advise you can't progress, but it also needs time to realize why certain things are boring, overused etc.

it's all a matter of whether or not they try to release the first game, though. if you're inexperienced, it's better to have a practice run that never sees the light of day than to learn over the course of a serious project.

Haha. This is why I love this site.
True, first games are typically bad, but obviously it's not his first game in rpg maker. What he needs to do is take the advice, and use it, instead of making excuses.

I was talking about the first project which is realized with the maker. I don't consider an idea which you develop for yourself a "game".

Ok, maybe it's not his first game(even though it could be, if he has only VX then it would he his first...)But it doesn't really matter.
Who was making excuses? All I said what, is that you can't expect everyone to come up with something amazing at the "first" try. Most people never make a good game, I think you shouldn't just always bash the starters, because this only steals their fun in creating something on their own.

Maybe the forum needs a new section called "games who want to be taken seriously" next to the section "games who were made for the sake of creating something on my own". :O

Who the fuck do you think you are? This is my project, NOT YOURS. I don't have to take your advice. I don't have to agree with your opinions. Stop spamming my fucking topic with the same complaints. I HAVE READ YOUR SAME ASS BITCHING COMPLAINTS OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

I don't care if someone dislikes my game. I can't please everyone. However you act as if you are in control of my project. You have been demanding.

I am not trying to make any excuses. I am making my game the way I want it, NOT THE FUCKING WAY YOU WANT IT. This is my first VX game. I never once used that as an excuse. It is simply a honest statement.
