Daniel Tosh "Rape Joke" Controversy

Yeah, Ven, I completely agree. You fundamentally cannot fix discrimination against women without fixing discrimination against men, but these women don't care about problems that don't personally affect them (or worse, act like men somehow "deserve it"), which leads me to believe that they're more interested in being victims than in actually improving things. They want sympathy and special treatment, not real equality and everything that comes with it. I don't get it. There are a lot of real issues affecting both men and women, yet the irrational hysterics of so-called "feminists" just make everyone not take gender issues seriously.

That said, about this topic specifically, Tosh's joke wasn't funny. Not only was it not clever, I think actively wishing something bad on someone in response to criticism is tacky. It's like if someone had complained about a dead baby joke and he responded with "wouldn't it be funny if your baby died." It's kind of uncalled for, and an offensive joke that isn't actually funny just tends to be offensive. It would have been more appropriate to make fun of her for being self-absorbed or hypocritical or something. But I mean, come on, it was an unscripted response and it probably just came off the wrong way. The huge outcry about this is retarded, especially since the main objection seems to be that the joke was about rape when that isn't the problem at all.

This is definately the sentiment I got from tumblr "radical feminists" (a specific movement). "Radical feminism" is based around the idea that women are at heart victims, that any form of sex classifies as rape (because no woman would want sex), and that men are naturally a superior race and therefore should all be removed. It's quite sad (and weird).

Like, men can't be raped because all men want sex even from a man.

tl;dr but a joke is a fucking joke; the world would be such a better place if everyone would calm down and laugh about it.

Honestly if people weren't such hardasses all over the world, a lot less would be a problem to deal with.

@ Venetia:

I've never gone to a show, but I see your point about the heckling. Well then, another course of his response could have been taken. I understand it was just a quick, not completely thought out reply to the woman, so hopefully she will find that out and won't think he really thinks her being raped would be funny.
