Cucumberness

I see what you mean, Venetia, but changing the framerate to 8 has made this a bit more fluid, so thats hardly a problem anymore, still I can't really get the battlers to appear on the right side of the screen, they're basically in the middle, and the first one in the row is almost on the LEFT of the screen, which looks sucky. But I'm pretty sure I will work that out; it's a problem with RGSS though, so I won't be discussing that in this topic.

And wow, Xcelled, that's a pretty huge compliment, thank you! It's far from finished though, and the story is still... err... well, non-existent. But when we've made a story and when I've figured out a cool idea for making modern teacher-based battles (something with skills being 'punishments' has come to mind), I'll post a topic about the game.
But all that aside, thank you!

I almost forgot to post this other sprite I'm working on! Silly me! This one has some obvious cutting going on from SithJester's amazing Blue Mage sprite. I decided to cucumber this up because I found the battler by Dollmage, who called her "Lorelai". So it's just that I'd put her into a game because of that. And because I wanted to practice all my graphic capacities, I decided to throw in a faceset as well.

Soooo?

I love the work. I too am using Cucumber Sprites, but I am cheating and using Zafrod's sprites along with some custom ones I made.

Yeah, I see where you got the Rayman thing from, the big hands and stuff. I've personally always liked Rayman, so yeah.

Green Raven is too cool. I discovered some of his examples in the original Cucumber thread weren't finished (!!), so I decided to try to do this. The shading style and all that stuff is totally different from what I used to do, but I like it. I've also learned some things from what I've done so far - like that one colour in the pallette might look weird, but that it looks good in combination with the others to make the colour. And of course to shade below the hair.
And the colours he uses are too awesome, I love the fun look it creates (both here and in Breeze, although I like the cuc's skin tone better since it's a bit less red)

The hair is taken from the original Breeze sprite by Green raven this was based on, and GR made the first frame of the front view himself (so if you'd ever think of using this, please credit him, I merely finished this... though of course it you'd rrreeealy want to)

You know I didn't like the Cucumber template very much at first, but I see you're doing such a good job with them that it's changing my mind! Very cute!!

God I'm a post whore.

Finished this new one. Front sprite was done by GreenRaven, it's his design which I excecuted crappily. Criticism, please! Try it out in the program, see what's wrong with it, etc...

I'd also still like some comments on the previous ones, especially the Grappler/Thief/?. Also, the cape of the Hero is a pain in my ass.

Here's something to compare it easily.

Those sprites look cool, I'm also working on cucumber sprites, we're like the only two, if ever you need some help or if you want to see my sprites just PM me and I'll show them to you

Hello 90d0f... I'm not even going to try to write that completely.

What exactly is your problem? If it's with the green "transparency" colour you're having problems, that's an easy fix. Go into the materialbase and there go to the subdivision for characters. Select "import" and find the charset file. It will show you the image; now click on the green colour and it will select this as the transparent colour for your image. Should work like that!
If that wasn't your problem, formulate your questions again, pleases.

That's not true....I'm a Cucumber Spriter also. I go by Lord Grundlefunk on other forums.

I hope this won't qualify as necroposting, but if it does, then this is narcistic necrofilia... (darn, that joke was wrong in so many ways..). I figured opening a new topic wouldn't be ideal (actually, maybe it would've been..)

Anyway, I've recently started thinking of working on my game again, so I've started spriting some more. (What I mean by that is: I've completed an old sprite and I'm back in ze game!)

I noticed how much I suck at hair. I know there's enough tutorials about it, so maybe I should take my time to revise them a bit. My early attempts at hair were quite horrible too (see first post!)...

Another sprite. I used the previous one as a base.

I'm kind of pleased at the way the hair looks and the outfit itself fits the drawing perfectly.
