Cryaotic's Artsicles

Hello there again fellows! Been a while so I thought I should post up some recent works I managed to whip out recently. I decided to go a different art style route as opposed to my old digital painting methods.

I hope you enjoy!

Hopefully this is an improvement (at least in my eyes) as opposed to my earlier works viewtopic.php?f=92&t=62075

Cheers fellows! :thumb:

Hi there Cry !

Yeah, I think you've improved majorly as opposed to the earlier work, and I especially like how you've gone for the soft light colours in the first two, as they just look all out amazing and the first is cute as hell.

The third I saw before hand (Sneakpeaks huzzah !) and I also really like it, although personally I think it'd look better if they didn't have black outlines, as it'd suit the style of the first picture (I'm usually an outline guy myself but you break the barrier !)

Good work and keep it up buddy !

PS - I just noticed thats a drawing of the house I sprited, yay !

No outlines you say my man?

Well lets see how that turns out!

Hmm, I'm not sure what I feel about this version. With the outline it gave the cast some boldness you now? Though I may just be biased since I was the one who drew it.

And thank you! I have been leaning towards the lighter colors lately, they are a blast to work with.

Hmm, I actually think it looks better without outlines, although just a question;

Is each blob on a different layer ? And if so, maybe you could turn the opacity of each one down a little to give them the translucent feel ?

Just a random suggestion, no need to follow it through :thumb:

They are all actually, ironically, draw together in one big blob. (oh the irony!)

I tried to give them a translucent feel with the coloring and shade, most easily seen on Bleep (Green) where you can see the soft silhouette of the two slimes behind him.

Theze look hilarious and and fantastic. Though you would think that you could see the textured wall behind them, seeing as they are blobs....

Indeed one would!

My reasoning behind it not being a reality is a sad one though: I was simply too lazy to go back and edit it all.

I do my images in both flash and photoshop, so when I want to do something to that effect I need to rework quite a bit to get the effect right. (Just lowering the opacity truly ruins the quality)

But thank you and good tidings my fellow!

Just a quick update, a friend of mine was making a forum RPG and had asked me to make a map for the world it is set in. Well, the bullocks didn't give me many details so I went with the flow. It didn't turn out to be what he wanted, so I quit working on it.

Though it still has a fair charm I'd say, but could use a bit more attention. (the base ground of the lower continent for starters, and some of the colors are off)

But! Here she blows:

I love your art style!
If you've ever played Castle Crashers, this looks sort of the final map of that.
I also love the coloring, pastels are awesome.

Wow, these are amazing! I love the maps, and indeed, no outline is the key to succes in your style. I love how you draw these!

Although, the perspective in your last 'Unfinished Map' looks a bit weird, but the colors ar b-e-a-u-tiful!

I agree!

I noticed halfway through working over my sketch that the floating continents (especially the right one) seemed a bit off and could use some readjusting; I'll be sure to fix such oddities in future works.

Cheers for the compliments through you two fellows! I am rather enjoying this style as well.

And why yes, I have played Castle Crashers! Though I only got to the Alien Hominid ship where I could not get out in time before it exploded. :dead: So I was unable to see the last level.

But I might say, Dan Paladin (the artist behind Castle Crashers (I have been a Newgrounds goer since the late '90s)) is a definite art inspiration. I love his cartoony style and color coordination.

The first picture is really extremely cute. Although, this is a really minor nitpick: how come the path cuts off a few feet short of the door?

Those silly slimes and their inability to make proper paths!

Good call sir(madam?), I actually failed to notice that. Though I believe that is because the path was added before I even thought of putting the house in.

I'll make sure to double-check for errors like such in the future my good man(lass?)!

EDIT:

Just a small update, something I whipped up this afternoon:

Another little update!

I wanted to try a different approach, but keep the same style. And here be the result:

Whimsicle! I don't however like the groun gras. It should have more texture than a few white lines.

Aye aye, totally agree. The ground grass I just slapped on there after a few attempts at trying out ways to fill it up.

I really do need to work on texturizing those sort of things, I'd have to say that's at least one of my weaknesses.

Trial and error! Trial, and, error!
