Preface: Perhaps this is a bad day to be posting this, but we were SUPPOSED to have this up two days ago... along with the Tech Demo.
Some of you may remember a few hints at a cross-over theme with Master of the Wind, Outlaw City, and 2 others games, one which got banned and another, Nadir's Canon, which the author decided against as he's thinking of cancelling the series (too much work.)
The systems initially designed for Cast Aside were actually built to feature the first "generic" Tactical Battle System which was to include the ground-breaking cross over with 4 of RMXP.org's most visible projects.
With only 2 left however, and both designers looking to try something a bit different, we now present "Gates Within."
Gates Within's story happens during the storylines of Outlaw City and Master of the Wind, although canon-wise neither series will include this time period until Outlaw City v2.
The Infinity Generators in Outlaw City, caused by Malum's power, are warped during one of Generation Corp.'s experiments. The result are randomly opening portals, attracted to Malum's prime source of power; conflict. The planet that this conflict is happening on? The ever-busy land of Solest.
The first portal opens in the most central point to this conflict, Port Arianna, where our heroes, fresh back from their scraps with the Ember Mages, have their first dimensional encounter with the world of Outlaw City's Earth.
Capitalizing on this, the dark forces behind both world's sinister current-events decide it's time to see what possible advantage they can gleam from this new opening... can our heroes, from both worlds, come to terms with the situation and stop these new dark plots?

With all four main characters from both storylines (at this time) eventually banning together, these forces for good need no introduction!
Expect, however, guest appearances and even help from characters in both stories that you wouldn't expect... perhaps sometimes even those of dark-hire will see the need to control this new change!

1. The new Advanced Party Controls of Cast Aside and the dungeon genius of MotW's ArtBane mix to create a new set of distributed dungeon challenges like you've never seen!
2. The Active Tactical Battle System from Cast Aside was designed for this very game! Helping standardize the attacks from both worlds, and letting characters interact in battle, this system will bring combat from both worlds together for a new powerful experience!
3. New Co-op attacks will let you mix the attacks of characters into powerful skills; ever wonder what Dark Sovereign's Beam Pillar and Stoic's Bone Cleave would do? Wave Cleaver has your answer!
4. New Transformation skills added to the Summoning skills allows characters like Sahra to transform into her new form when bonded with her suit. These new transformations will change the way whole strategies are based with their unexpected and powerful spikes in combat power!
5. The mix of Master of the Wind's masterful dialogue with new dynamics systems allows the speaker to be centered on the map... no matter where they are! A character slightly off screen? Your screen will zoom over to center on them, creating a new dynamic dialogue system worthy of Volrath's writing.
6. All new character advancement systems based on the amazing systems seen in Shonen's Jump's new DS games; use panels to place attacks, transformations, and power boosts to those skills, and even items! Mixing the itemization genius of Master of the Wind with the simple advancement of Cast Aside, you will be creating whole new character designs with panel-placed designs that change character's abilities on the fly!
7. Art from dual-artist sources! With MotW's Enkur and Yaoumei's artwork side by side, expect nothing but custom art for new face-sets and even full comic-styled cut-scenes! The old battler's will make it into this game to help the familiarity and old-school feel of both worlds!

Sound like too much? Remember that the makers of this game have already proven again and again that they can rise to meet amazing challenges. With most of the scripting done, and the story outline already finished, the scenes, dungeons, and amazing new abilities are being currently integrated.

Yes, what IS that portal? Check out the way we managed to keep the different dialogue styles; MotW people will speak with the same old window-skin and style of the original, and Outlaw City characters will speak with the new Cast Aside styled comic-text!

Check out the way the new battle system works in one of the first encounters where Outlaw City and Master of the Wind meets! Also, you'll notice Sahra's new transformation skill in use!

Place-holder battler for Stoic... we hate that white outline!

The fray is getting pretty busy now! I wish I could show a co-op attack in motion, but the system is still a bit buggy.
