Critique on side view battlers. (WIP)

Because of the increase in side-view games vs. the lack of side view (or at least origional) battlers, I have decided to make some. But first I would like some critique on a few of them to see if it is something worth doing.

Dive, a shark sprite created as the trademark mascot of the "Scrive" program, now under my teams management.

I will add more as I finish them to my liking. Any words of wisdom are welcome, as well as suggestions on monsters or humans (although I will rarely do humans). I may be able to make some custom battlers outside my normal liking for a price if my work becomes popular enough. Final Note- That permission and credit will be needed to use a majority of these sprites.

the shark looks great, but the other ones could still use a lot more work. They look too flat. Nonetheless they are awesome.

The righ'-left pose of the shark is good.
Al' the rest is basically bad.
Specially the squid, it's, like Zeldrak said, totally flat.
If you put som' texture on it, however, I think it would be good.

Kraken was the first spite I ever made, so I can agree on it looking flat I have no clue on how I would go about redeeming it though. Glad the shark is looking good. Maybe I will post some of my humans up to see if there any better.

Not really pokemon, but cartoonish enough that it is easy to watch rather then a bunch of stiff, serious, over clothed people. Sorry for the pink in the next one. Its hard to look at when standing still. Oh and I did'nt notice that the hair is Etna style, guess I am playing to much disgaea lately.

Well I try many of these are side view battlers in the making, I was just seing if any of them are good or not. But yes I do Sprites (normal, etc.) and Side-view battlers, I can also do tilesets, but don't have a complete one yet. Maybe I will post some.

For the kraken, I would suggest trying a different eye scheme. At the very least, make his cornea yellow or some shade of brown-- and change the iris color from blue to something with a nice sepia tone.

Finally, do something else with the outlines. Smooth out the pixels, and recolor some of it so it's just a dark version of the inner colors. Don't be afraid to shave the outline off of some parts of the body... One thing I learned in art class was to avoid outlines at all cost. :]
