Ops... Link is fixed!

I've got them in dundjinni forum. Some guys ripped it (but they doesn't tell from what program they ripped), that's why I didn't give credit to them. With dundjinni software you can do MUCH better maps. Anyway, I'm ussing it to make all my game. Take a look in some images of this wonderfull software!

I tested this method and it works quite well. I never considered before that you could use the cloud filter to generate fractalish patterns for this use. I discovered a way to use this method to create another type of maps. I will post a small tutorial as soon as i'm done writing it.

Question, so you use the map you make with Photoshop as a World Map? Ok, looks great, but how do you get it into the game? Using it as a picture or as a tileset? If you do as a tileset, and you placed the objects in photoshop quite sloppy then you're going to have a hard time with the grid.

I haven't tested or tried anything yet (But I sure will, looks fantastic!) but this will be a problem, right?

Kojiro, tutorials are always welcome! And the only other way to do a map with this method is using clouds and then applying a contrast of +100.

The Answer is: Yes and No. What you said is true, but, there are some scripts to help you with this, like pixel movement script, bigger sized events, item map, etc. I, personally, don’t use a character animation in a world map, but a pulsing point animation. And If you think that’s a problem to use as a tileset, use them as a picture, as you said.

First, great tutorial!!!
Second, in your advanced pictures, how did you make those mountains and desert ands those sort oh things, was like in the step 3 you painted i lighter for those areas or did you at the end apply a lot of extra layers, one for mountains, one for deserts and so on? could yo tell your tips for those maps, they look amazing.

I know how to work with Photoshop, but this was the hardest tutorial I've ever done in my life... if somebody could just brush up on the lightning effects step, that would really help. Thanks!

I may go ahead and make some of those resources into brushes. That way, people experienced in brushes could easily add them onto their maps. Anyone interested?

Thanks, but… I don’t understand your question very well. If you are asking about the part for advanced users, I didn’t create that map, I just edited it. So, are you saying that you want to make something like this?

It's difficult because this part involves to know to draw. But, you can use Lasso Tool to help you. Use it to draw your world, then, save your selection (Select => Save Selection). After this, apply feather and use the brush tool in the select area to create your world. After, load the selection, click Ctrl+Shift+I (invert selection), apply feather again and use the brush in the sea.

There must be other ways to do this easily, but I don't remember at this moment.
