Commercial Game Release (RMVX) - Help!

Hi, i am about to begin with a project but i though if i can commercialize it. My only problem is that i want to know what could think about.

Do i just have to make a game and sell it? Or do have to do some more stuff?

P.S. If i am using scripts/pictures created by others, is it enough to credit them if that is the only thing they demand when you make a game? (According the Descriptions).

Please someone tell me everything. I am using old scripts for RMVX created by people who have quitted and unreachable, is crediting enough? Cause i cant reach them anyhow.

A lot of people are really anal over commercial projects so it's best to ask each individual in person - if they say no, or don't say anything, or you can't contact them, it's best to assume it's a no.

Well, before making a commercial game you could try and not leave verbs out of your sentences like some caveman. O_o

You have to contact the creator of resources separately regarding the use of their material in your commercial game, if they don't have a clear rule for that stated somewhere regarding that specific material. The creator may have different rules for his different resources.

I don't know regarding not being able to reach them.

Also, don't think about submitting your game to Oberon, Steam or RealGames. :)

They can sue you or just rant at you. It's best to ask them because a lot of people are really faggoty over commercial games.

Faggoty is a good choice of word. I have sent messenges about permission requests now.

I wouldn't call it faggoty when someone profits over something that you've made. ;D

I doubt anyone would actually sue you, though. It sounds nice & all, but practically it's difficult. They could contact your distributors however, who will then either take your game down or never trust you again in the future. Either way is bad so you should just contact them.

may i help with your game i wanna be a credit whore i love attention i'm free pm if so and never use stuff you haven't asked for unless it's for personal or free games.

bump, can they sue somebody though i live like across the world from the other? The creator doesnt understand english so i basicly would have to go uncommercial. But still by curiosity, if the creator lives in like Argentina or something and im in sweden, can they still sue me and i go to jail? Just a question of curiosity as i said.

Technically yes they could, however its more likely that they wouldn't sue you as it would require a lot of time, effort and probably some sum of money. Its in your best interests that you just ask permission though, its not that much effort to make if you are planning a serious commercial project.

I am not going to take something made by someone else and make money on it, its unfair, i would have been pissed if someone did that against me. Anyway, i am trying my best to contact him, but he is a brazilian who cant english.. I dont know how to ask.

Try Portuguese... :scruff:

There are 2 issues here...

Morality If you believe that stealing is wrong, don't do it. If the creator has given express permission to use their intellectual property or creative work, then it's ok. If they have expressed that permission is required, or haven't included a "terms of use", then it's not ok.
When in doubt, leave it out.

Legallity If the resource is from another commercial product, the creator or distributor can prove 'damages', and you could be responsible for any losses the copyright holder realizes from your 'theft'. If the resource is independent, and has no current chance of generating income for anyone, then there are no 'damages'. The only judgment would be a 'cease & desist', requiring you to stop using those resources, and sullying your reputation.
Although it's highly unlikely that anyone would pursue legal action in this case, it's still legally 'wrong'.

There is always the option of 'buying' a license to use the resource. I would expect even a token offering would be a kind enough gesture to grant permission.

Be Well
