Clizzz's Workshop Redux

Hi guys, it has been a while. Most of you won't remember me, I once was a regular here, but then I just ... drifted away. Anywho, I'm back to working on my baby, Advanced Warfare, which I concluded long ago, I would not be able to do on RPG Maker XP. So I moved over to Stencyl.

And I know you're probably going to say "Well ... ermm ... What the hell are you doing here?". Funny story that. You see, when I drifted away from RMXP.org (R.I.P.), I also drifted away from indie game making as a whole. Got a 360 and got lost in the political nonsense on a site called N4G.com. Anyways, I've returned to game making after a 16 month or so break and I've decided to get back to work, as I've had a clear-cut, concise plan for my game now for over 2 years, but I have just been, for the lack of a better word, pussy-footing around.

Now that I'm now officially into Pre-Production mode, I've remembered that one of the reasons that I took a break from the indie scene is because I can't sprite worth a damn. I've tried my hand at a lot of things. Half Kaizer, the Breeze Revolution (LMAO, Hindsight, beautiful thing), RTP. It just didn't work for me. You may remember that a while ago, I developed a template called "Weeble". Well, I really took off with that style, as it suited my needs perfectly.

Anyways, I'm here because I'm animating seriously now, and I realize that even with this simple template, I still can't sprite worth a damn, and I need some help/tips/pointers from you guys. The Stencyl Community has been growing steadily for a while now, but we don't have anywhere NEAR the amount of qualified Pixel Pushers like the ones around these parts.

Anyways, sorry for the wall, yes I know China called, long distance is expensive, blah blah blah. I'd really appreciate any feedback you guys can give me as I post my resources up for critique. Thanks.

Alright, first up, I'm working on a running animation. So far, I've gotten the first Column (Front view) to where I'm happy with it, but the sides are just not working with me. Especially the feet. I like the arms, they're fine, but the feet just seem off some how.

Here is the GIF of the running in action

Here is the Sprite Sheet

It should be noted that I have not started working on the third and fourth column yet, the sheet is just there in case you need to make edits, or just want to see what the heck I was doing.

Note: I would prefer if this template isn't used. I'd like to keep the style unique to my game. Thank You.

Things to Come hopefully:
Melee (Punching, Kicking)
Assassinations
Sword Skills
Gun Holding
Others once I think of them

Hey, tried to edit your running cycle here. It's not perfect or anything, and I kinda rushed it, but maybe it'll help.

Do check this site, it's really useful for walking animations.

Hope it helps. :O
