Chara style for my game.

Please forgive, i did exactly what you didn't want...
I completly killed your great template with my spriting skills...
But i hope someday with enough patience i can make something worth...

Well here u have the PowerpuffGirls/Windwaker/Anothercartoonylookingthing Super Heroes!
http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m112 ... /Super.png[/IMG]
The spider-guy. The Guy with pointy ears (Scary!). The psychological test and the other guy that somehow resembles another, but this one comes from hell!

PS: Please, don't kill me... BTW i love the template... i hope the anti-aliased version of RTP get's done so your game rocks...
PS: I know, my comedy skill are at the same level than my spriting... LOW.

I love them- great job. I hope you don't mind that I edit them to have smaller eyes?

I guess it's fine by me. Have fun.

And Onsokamaru, those are awesome. I can recognize, Spider-man, Batman and Spawn. But who's the other guy?

Edit: I guess it's someone named Rorchach.

Okay, I started working with the side view. and I realized that I really didn't like it. Does anyone have any advice or ideas on how to improve the side-views? I feel like they don't fit the style that I've established in the front view.

References would be incredible, if anyone knows any games that use similar styles.

Thanks.

Just started looking at that... yes, look kind of weird.. think is the triangle shape in the back... maybe making them a little more square, or lowering the back could work... or making them some kind of butt... Anyway look great...

PS: Yes, is Rorschach from Alan Moore's Watchmen, recomended reading for anyone...

I like the chest and back of the new one...
But i like more the arms and legs of the old one... (I liked that powerpuff/ragdoll look, like they were a piece apart...)

Here's what i was trying... as you can see i lowered the back a little and tried to separate the legs a bit more in the walking animation...
I'd have to see how looks the new template in motion...

Good luck! and keep the good job... i'd never well be be able to do something that good so i'm condemned to help the masters... XD

I like it. The way the black outline makes the character "pop"
I actually have to disagree. I like the style, but I don't lik how it stands out with RTP. I'd use different style tilesets If I used these.

That middle character's eyes look odd, it looks like he's looking up with his hands in his pockets.
The hat on the first guy prevents him from suffering the same fate.

Otherwise these are great!

The outline makes a clear indication of what is interactive and what isnt, so I like it. Its kind of like in cartoons, the interactive elements are done in a different style than the still background.

Thanks ryan, that's exactly what I was going for.

Now, I have some progress. This is the (hopefully) completed sprite for Gavin. I've tested him in RMXP and something seems off with his turning (I'm not so sure, but the jump from facing forward to facing sideways seems awkward). I wasn't going to share publically any full sprites, but I really need some help.

I ask that you try him in a game and play with him as a bit, just tell me if it looks/feels natural or not- and give me advice if you can think of any. Thank you so much for doing this for me.

Note that this uses the old style of the side-view. I want to see if I can get away with it when the characters are fully clothed, so I don't have to remake all the templates.

It seems decent enough for me. I actually tried it for you in RMXP really quick, though I could easily have not and pretended to.

I do see what you mean about the turning- but I don't think it's that big a deal. As a whole the sprite does look incredible.

Thanks Serenade. I'll try doing more like this and I'll see if I keep having the same problem with other designs.

Does anybody else feel like lending a hand or do you all like to post when I'm offline and keep me waiting? Hah.

First off I'd just like to say your characters are absolutely darling. I love them. :D It just screams a classic feel, ya know? So I went ahead and messed around with walking Gravin around and I think I might know what's bugging you about the side to front.

If you look at the front view the face sorta comes to a point. Like this shape
O> (it's on the side). But the trangular is very suttle. When you switch to the side view it becomes an oval and looses the point. I feel like the shape of the face becomes much to circular. You have any idea what I mean? (if not I can cook up a picture and show you since I feel like I'm talkin' dribble. :P

Also the body becomes very thin so it might just be an illusion that it seems off but it's only because their is such a difference in the thickness of the body.

*shrug* Hope that helped you out. These things are just so cute so I hope your problem gets solved.

If it's not too muck trouble, that picture would be great. although I do sort of understand what you mean.

And I definitely agree with the body thing- I think that's the bulk of the problem. Although I can't think of a way to remedy that without making his side views look very...thick?

Thank you very much for taking the time!

That last one is naked!

What are you talking about?

EDIT: Oh, I think get it. You only saw the first post.

Well, I edited my later important posts (the two with important images) so people can keep up with what's been going on without going through six pages. Hah.

Well as i told you is the fact that the template makes them thin when sideways... maybe try the one with chest and butt and the turning won't seem so rough. Maybe left that body, and the arms and legs of the former?
Anyway, the template as a whole work perfectly and Gavin rocks on screen... (Tried him on a map with the anti-aliased tileset and one normal)
So, don't worry and keep it up!
(When are we going to see a woman?... besides the template i mean, with your talent, she'll be powerpuff gorgeous XD)

There are two women in my big collection image (in the first post now). Malt is the one with purple hair with cannons strapped to her waist, and the black girl is Delia.

And I'm going to try that arm/body combination now. Thanks.
