Changing current frame on a charset?

In my caterpillar system, I'd like the characters to begin walking with a different frame, so that they don't all move..exactly the same. However, by standard I don't see some kind of "@frame" stored in the actors. Do you know how to do this? Change the current frame. Then I could change the frame when the caterpillar starts moving. =) I already changed the stop-walking-time, so they don't all stop at the same time. Now I just need to do this one. ^^
