[CH]Xiang Yun

I've decided to make my game based off the Dynasty Warrior's storyline, and I want Xiang Yun to be the main character.

This is what i've made so far:

The staff isn't too impressive close up, but I think it's sufficient either way

Comments and Critisism appreciated.

I'm not much of an artist, so don't mind me, but I THINK what might be missing is a consistent light source. In the Despain Pixel Academy subforum, under the contests etc forum, you'll see a link to a... here, Derek Yu's tutorial.

The upper crotch area, for example, seems unnaturally bright. In some areas there's possibly not enough contrast for the colors to really be distinguished in the small view - the legs, for example. I'd have a slightly darker line of pixels on the skin under the hair, for more of a transition on the forehead. I think this might be taken care of better though if you experiment with the lighting part of the tutorial.

Bear in mind I'm no artist though, so don't take anything I say as fact or too personally, just as something that might be worth considering checking out

Yeah I noticed my innconcistancy(sp?), but I will try and recitify that, thanks.

The plate by his crotch is supposed to be metal, I haven't really got the hang of textures as you can see ^_^ But If people were swinging this at me i'd like something solid guarding my crotch aswell :D

Also, the first sprite is in an idle stance, yet the blue cloth attached to the spear appears to be blowing in the wind. When playing the game and standing still, that could look odd.

It looks...gradient O.o, you definitely need to improve the shading and contrast.

cool, even more cool thats it is in a game with DW storyline, but I can't help thinking.... which army is he in? Wei, Wu or Shu? (as you can see I'm a DW nut, but I haven't seen him in DW5 nowhere (Note I've played all but 1 and most extreme legends)
