Central Building Tileset addon WIP [Need Help]

Hey all, I updated the building, here it is:

Firstly, PLEASE don't use these or modify these for use.

Here is my central building to a town I'm working on. The style is breezyish (though not breeze) and sort of pokemon inspired in design aspects like the top down light etc.

So far I've only done the base shape and colored a few of the windows. I've also added the houses I made as a refference to size etc. I'm really struggling here... I know the shape and where it's going into the town. What I really need help with is pallets refferences etc.

  • I need some help on the windows (which atm are dithered but need more detail on the non curved ones)
  • I need some help on pallets for walls, roof door etc with refferences to show how they're used

My main problem is that I've seen spriting tutorials but nothing really helps on building design.

Shadows would probably be a good thing - under the roofs, the windows, the shingles...  And glares on the windows.  Your houses look like standing alone they'd be fine without the extra shading, but your building implies a more lifelike approach (hence, more shadows and highlights).

For the flat windows, you may want to try some sort of a glare. I'm not too sure what you need help with, concerning your walls. I think they look fine considering the style you're spriting in.

hah basically what tindy just said

The building is meant to be a similar style to the houses but the houses were based on a pokemon house so I had pallets for them, the building is based on a single 5 colored pallet at the moment with a three color pallet for the windows.

I'll get to breaking up the colors first i think but I need some advice on pallets for building materials such as concrete, brick, windows etc. I'll then start to adding some shadows.

BTW, I don't intend to make the building completely blue... It was just a base so I could design it a bit better than with just a red wire frame. Any suggestions on a base color or material type (such as concrete, brick, wood, plastic coated etc)

Edit: Glare? how would you suggest going about that?

Depends on the look you want.  A simple whitish diagonal stripe usually works.  RTP, however, tends to use the "THERE IS NO GLASS HERE!" principle, and thus has no glare.  It does, however, make use of shadows where appropriate.
