Carpe Diem [Demo Now Out]

I'm glad that you liked the menu as I worked hard on it, as for the houses I guess its just a personal prefenance ^^;.
Thanks for playing ^^

Hey there Dagger~

I downloaded your game demo as soon as it was out. Haven't had the time to play much though. In fact, I only got around 5mins of gameplay in as of current, up to the point of obtaining the Wake-Time Tea.

Generally liked what I saw so far, but there are also a few points that I would like to critic on.

  • Dialogue/Text speed was too slow imo; couldn't skip the lines either when pressed
  • Walking speed outside the house; the speed in-house was perfect, but in town, it felt like speed dropped from 4 to 3. Maybe it was intentional, like how grasses will slow one down. However, I felt the speed drop to be quite tedious to walk.
  • Minor passibility issue with the sink+cutting board in Chloe's house. Again, it might be intentional on your part, but it felt a little weird being able to stand on where the edges are (if you get what I mean).
  • The way the carpet is laid out in the house felt unusual. They are like, all over the place, making the shape 'non-rectangular' in appearance. Just a small visual issue again, though.

Enough with the nit-picky part now.
I really like the menu. It is simple, yet still nice in appearance. Love the interactive bits by clicking on random furnitures too. I ended up wasting time going all over the place poking around everything I could touch. >_<

I will play more when I have the spare time again. Thanks for the game~!

Downloading the demo now. I can tell by your thread a lot has changed since I first commented. MegaUpload is kinda of lame, so if you want I can host your project for a month or two. I'll update after I've played the demo.

@ Dark Koji- Thanks so much for the detailed feedback
-As for the message speed, I've made it so if you hold down space the text speeds up so people can't just skip it and miss out on something.
-I've noticed that too, I'm thinking that it might be because of the ammount of events that accour in the town, as I am unable to find any events to cause this.
-Ah I've not noticed that thanks for pointting out that error.
-Yeah that was an effect that failed, I'll clean that up later.
I can't take all credit for the menu Catchm was the one who scripted it I just spent an hour changing all the graphics ^^, I'm glad you like the random interaction.
I hope you contuie to play and let me know what you think ^^.

@Atemu- Sorry I was unsure how to get it moved but now I know so I'll be sure to report next time ^^.

@Mundane- Sorry mega upload is the only one I'm aware of so if you could upload it that would be great ^_^, I'll be waiting to see what you think of the demo. Thanks for taking your time to play.

I finished the demo. Well, the characters and the plot are still looking great. That's pretty much it as far as my overall impression goes.

Anyway, there are some less good details in the demo.

The game has noteable passability errors. There was one shop where the merchant was standing on top of the counter instead of behind it and Chloe could walk right over it. Also, vertical walls in the cave can be walked right through.

There's a bug with the lord that gives Chloe a riddle. I could take the riddle twice thus bypassing the need to visit one of the other lords. Chance is I could have bypassed two lords, but I had already passed another lord before taking the riddle a second time.
