Can someone give me some tips?

Hey, I'm fairly new here, so I hope this is in the right place.
Anyway, I'm currently making a game called "The Oblivion Factor". It's pretty much my first full game. I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips? Just advice on what and what not to do in a game, how to make it interesting, how to make it unique/stand out, just some tips to help me make my game good and not, you know, utter garbage. I'm pretty familiar with switches/variables and the like, and I can map fairly well. I've been using RMXP for a while now, just never made a full game.
Thanks! Sorry if my request isn't specific enough, or if this topic isn't in the right place.

1. An important aspect of any game is character development.  You need a diversity in characters so the player can connect to at least one of them.

2. As for uniqueness, this can be found both in the storyline and in battle.  For example, I have my own system for summoning and there's a huge twist at the end of the game (if I ever get there).

If you need help with events, I'm pretty good with them, so PM me.  Good luck! :thumb:

I think a good (and simple!) way to make it a bit more interesting is to exclude some of the normal things (such as inns healing your party), and find a more original way of accomplishing it. Maybe your characters don't level up in the traditional sense. Maybe there's only one playable character.

An example from my own project is my mage class. Instead of the traditional fire, ice, lightning, etc., you derive your powers based on what the weather and environment around you are like. (With events, of course, because scripting mocks me from on high.) But anyway, that's just an example.

Good luck with your game!
