Can Not Load Data

My VX game will no longer load the actor data. I get an error message stating this. I have only used the RTP for all of my actors. A few months ago my project failed to load the script data. I deleted the script data and replaced with a default one from a project demo. Everything was fine until now because of the actor data will not load. I tried to same trick with the actor data but it did not work. It sill fails to load the data. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the VX program and the issue is still happening. I had this issue with as well XP when it fails to load data. How can I fix this? Do I have start my project all over? Why is this keep happening?

Can someone please help?

I have tried to change the script back to the default script but it did not solve the problem. I am using windows XP with service pack 3. I have checked my computer for virus and have none. My project is stored on an external hard drive made by Western Digital. However my past projects that had this problem was stored on my regular hard drive.

Awesome Bro

Have you tried makin a new project, and copy/pasting the data files over one by one, and playtesting to see which one is giving you the error ? Although you said actor data anyway, but give it a try and see what happens, obviously starting with the actor data.

That error message typically comes when your data has been corrupted for some reason.
There are unfortunately no known cure once your data is corrupted, so you have to start from back-ups of the corrupted files. (You usually only have to replace the corrupted files)

The most common cause appears to be turning the computer off or rebooting while RPG Maker VX is running.

You just got to keep making back-ups with regular intervals.
That's the best strategy. If you haven't made any backups you may have to start all over.

*hugs*

Yes, I have tried this already. It did not work. Thanks for the advice anyway.

I never turn off nor reboot my computer when VX is running. I always save and close the project. I have backups and they are no longer working. They are having the same problems.

I just don't understand why this always happens. Enterbrain has screwed me out of money.

Thanks for the advice.

The only thing I can think of is your hard disc having loads of bad sectors :( (Other than you having a virus)
I have never heard of back-ups not working at the same time the normal doesn't work.

You can try to use the error-checking tool for your hard and check for bad sectors. You can then hope that Windows won't save onto the bad sectors.
