Chronicles of Bobb - best foot forward

For my first project, i have tried to make a simple adventure experience based around the town of Convenience

Anyone intrested in trying the demo needs to take into account that, i know about the scenery issuse and typos within the game they are currently being ironed out, but by all means try it and let me know what you think and how i may improve :biggrin: ;

I don't know how to put it lightly, so I'm not going to. You need to work on your mapping. The areas are boring, bare and although they have a decent concept behind them, this success does not overshadow the blandness of it all. Use the resources available to you, recolor, add pieces from other tile-sets, do some custom work if you have the ability, and learn how to use the tilesets properly. Instead of copying the same building twice over, use the various tiles presented to make one larger building with a coherent roof. As well, I can see on your map that you have a rope fence bridging across the water. Or at least, that's what I think it is. You should probably fix that. At the 9 o'clock position, there appears to be a... farm land. I think. Or is it a graveyard? I'm not entirely sure what you intended it to be. I assume it's not a graveyard because the church is on the other side, and it's got no gravestones. Or anything growing. Is it just a patch of dirt, or what? It's not connected to a house, so is it a communal garden? Never heard of one of those! For the most part, you have the right idea with the paths in that one map, but some of them do become monotonous once you repeat the tile enough times. Also, try not to take a picture of your map with the grid on, it's not nice to look at.

While actually playing the game, your dialogue is terrible. I'm sorry, but not only the sheer number of grammatical errors & spelling mistakes (which you pointed out that you were aware of), but actually the way of speaking. Use some of the freely available scripts or resources to make your message windows more interesting. There's plenty of decent looking window-skins that would liven up your project a little, and many Custom Message Systems available to take care of the "Bobb -" in a more tidy fashion. Your mapping in the swamp area was especially atrocious. I giggled at the "You see something sparkling at your feet, you find some E." But not for the right reason. The swamp was difficult to search, as your passabilities are error-ridden, and your maps aren't set to be obvious. I would suggest majorly revising the project. Don't scrap it, just do a lot of correctional work. Incorporate some more interesting subsystems into it, etc etc. Keep trying, kiddo.
