wait it looks a little like someone put a cigarette out there. like there's a little cherry mark ... though typically cigarette smoke won't make that kind of black sear. They would have had to hold it there for like a minute to produce any burn marks ...

clean off the spot, then put some tape/a sticky not or something on top of it. If it appears on the paper, it's a power/something burning, if it doesn't, then it's just a stain that goes clear then wet.

(While typing, I realised like 5 possible problems with that but hey got any better ideas?)

I completed the first. I can solve this.

Try and ask the burn mark where it lives.

Someone is sticking incense in the crack between the top of the door and the door frame to hide a smell, likely smoking pot.
It's an old trick. As it burns down, it gets closer and closer to the door frame causing those scorch marks.
