Good job, entrants!
Poll closes late in the day on April 5th!

Hey cool, popular voting is up yay! Time to play all the games I haven't tried yet, and then to vote! :D

Btw Venetia I just realized that I have a typo in my game description that I missed while filling the form with a complete lack of sleep. Any chance you could fix it for me? ^^ The description should say: A cute music beat x shooter hybrid that will test your rhythm and gaming skills!

Thanks! :D

Playing through them all, I remember a few from the scirra forums, I really liked the concept of Dr. Shivo's space rocket, with a little polish like some landing animations it'd be even better.

Fixed :)

Several of them have typos actually, but I figured it was more fair to just copy & paste them directly instead of trying to fix spelling & grammar for them all (I've been busy enough!).

Huge congrats to all entrants, and don't forget to keep supporting your favorite entries <3

Played through the lot now, some great stuff for the free version, really showcases what the program can do (and people's amazing imaginations! )

Dr. Shivo's Amazing Moon Rocket - by Nemo

Really loved the concept of this game - took me a while to figure out what I had to do, but was great fun with trial and error with the rockets.

DeadSpace: The Darkness - by farsmile90

It took too long to load, skipped after 30 seconds. May return later

NINJA - by Eventing_Guy

Simple but fun, the Ninja character was pretty cool, some extra animations for falling/landing would've added some more polish.

Would suggest if this is worked on in future to add button conrtols and lose the mouse, if your main game is all button related, you shouldn't have to

reach for the mouse to restart the game/level.

Dungeon.Sec - by Wink

Love the graphics, the controls confused me at first, I was mashing up arrow or space (which scrolls the whole page on chrome )
Nice difficulty scale, took several attempts by the 3rd level. :D

Parking - by handi

Graphics were cool, some kind of gear shift would be good, from 'normal' driving to 'parking' speed - It may be practice, but the controls seems a

little too sensitive , especially on the later levels. The car alarms were an awesome touch, :D

Newton's Cannon - by arikrak

Interesting concept, the asteroids level had a nice gravity effect like in Angry Birds Space. Would suggest if the creater continue working on this to

add some feedback in the form of sounds/animations for collisions. The brick level didn't seem to work for me- the ball dropped out the cannon rather

than flying.

M'Gen - by 01lifeleft

Grahphics are very cool in a SNES style, the delayed jump is a little off putting, it seems there's no way to get past the cacti on the first level

without taking a fair amount of damage.

Nibble - by Ugotsta

Very cool, loved the atmosphere created by the soundscape, got my vote! :)

Star Conquest - by afgho

Great concept- controls are great once you get used to them , some gravity around the planets would add an extra element of awesome- and perhaps on the

beginning/easy levels, a shield that regenerates over time if you're not being fired at.

Pindroid - by Crayflail

Nice blend of Arkenoid/Breakout with pinball I couldn't figure out what was triggering the rewards though, is it in the blocks? Maybe some different

coloured blocks/item droms to show the rewards dropping ( and collectable with the ball or something?)

Brick Break - by Nikou

Well executed, just like the original. :)

Kaiser Zeppelin - by vrety

Very challenging - not saved the earth yet. :(

Skygear-01 Destroyer by gillenew

Brilliantly done - very smooth controls, great pacing and some wonderful art! Vote for sure!

Boing - by Wishy

Very cool - wish the movement got a little faster in the later levels, but very playable, and easy to use controls haha. :)

GREEN 2: RED - by Glitchfinder

Interesting concept, would like single player option - didn't know it was two player until the red player died. Also some goal or end of round would be

good. :)

Power Shift - by BlueScope

Coudln't get it to work - arrow keys or < > didn't seem to do anything and was unsure what to do.

Project GRID - by Jason & Tuna

Fun game, the car physics are easy to get used to, the controls were a little confusing, trying to figure out how to shoot etc, also would interupt the

flow less if the titlescreen was button based rather than mouse, since mouse isn't used anywhere else in the game.

Graphics are very colourful and create a cohesive theme.

Tilt-A-Whirl - by Bob Thulfram

Not bad - could do with actual bouncing of the things that don't kill you - interesting if short and simple.

High Speed Zero - by joannesalfa

Graphics were nice, and the acumalative damage was well handled. Got my vote!

PhyShooter - by juantar

Couldn't figure out how to shoot, but props for the 3d. :)

Drunken Wizard - by onzephyr

This was a huge amount of fun, a lot of character and charm. Loved the animations and the plot line. Got my vote. :)

Hungry Lizard - by gamecherry

Loved the style! Graphics were very well done, would've liked to see the bugs stick to his tongue when caught, was difficult to tell if I'd got them sometimes.

Music Fighter - by valkyriegames

Nicely executed with some wonderful graphics, I found the green comboes hard but for faster fingers I'm sure it's a blast.

Wizard Blast - by dooley

Very addictive, backgrounds make it a little hard to read the layout - but only a minor issue- great stuff!

I still don't get why people say this when the controls are right below the game screen o.O

Thanks for the suggestion. I had intended to do that but I just ran out of time. I'm looking for ideas to extend this further and make this a fun game. Any ideas welcome on how to expand the game further. I find the concept one that tickles some part of my brain.

Cool story bro... Well, I don't plan on continuing my C2 game.
I want to get back to my serious Game, that's still in development.

It's in the instructions that nobody will ever read because I'm so long-winded. :)
5 Bouncer hits with any ball triggers the rockets (lower left), silver balls hitting the flippers fills the paddle meter (lower right) - 2/3 full and you can trigger lasers or when it's totally full the magic orange ball spawns. Magic orange ball hits a brick, another one spawns (max of five on the screen at one time, otherwise it's hilarious, but less fun). Every 300 points for the red bomb ball, which spawns a silver ball when it explodes after hitting a brick.
So much of what you put down was considered, and I might come back to it...power-ups from blocks seemed really difficult for the player unless I made them go really slow so that you'd have a shot (haha!) of hitting them. Colored blocks - I really wanted it. :) I wasn't sure if I could integrate it into how the levels are spawned (events with arrays, not layouts) and the thought of it scared me. So I went another direction and turned them from cement gray to somewhat modern looking.

I think it was Music Fighter that just moved to a different section of the same layout to show instructions/credits with a smooth sliding motion....that was freaking brilliant and I so wished I'd thought of it instead of just stacking my unused sprites over there.

In regards to the button-based titlescreen: We put a great deal of thought into making it button-based, but the navigation just didn't seem natural. The rollover effect created when the player tries to go to Time Trial before unlocking it, or the rollovers on the unlockable Awards in the high scores screen simply would not have worked properly without mouse controls.

In regards to the controls being confusing, you should have noticed them right below the game window as soon as you started it up. If you're like me and have a 1366x768 resolution on your screen, we actually resized the game's title image so that it would pretty much force you to scroll down to view the entire playing area, and as a result would force you to notice the instructions. Out of curiosity, what made you overlook that?

Good luck to all of the entrants!!

I think this is my favorite part of the contest playing all the game entries :D There are so many fun games to play I think this might take me a few days to play them all. It's like getting 25 new games for your birthday :D

@JohnnySix Thank you :) I listed the game controls on the Info page.

Thanks JohnnySix! I plan to allow for different difficulty levels in the future as well so that should help this :)

Lol, me too, I play your game more than 20 times and don't know how to use weapon. My screen don't display Control below the game screen, so I always press any key and play game. When control the car, I don't have time to test which key is used. But your game is really fun, I enjoy it even don't use weapon  .
You have my vote :thumb: .

I had no problems finding the controls under the title screen, but I think you should make it as easy for the others to find the controls too (most people stop scrolling once they get the whole game screen). I think putting a control screen in game couldn't hurt :)

I got this kind of feedback in my thread as well. I'm going to quote rosarevens excellent short description on how it all works, for those who didn't figure it out yet... (it's also in my thread now, directly under the game link) and again, sorry for this quite obvious design flaw of letting people figure out what to do - that's something that apparently doesn't work on nowadays' games anymore.

It's a rotary strategy game. FUEL UP is kind of like "end turn". You click on the building thingy with the colour correspondent to your turn (blue or red) to build units, and you click on the created units to control them. The rest of the buttons are for the units: left or right to move around the planet, the bottom left button to shoot. I think a unit can only shoot once. As the units move, fuel is spent. Creating units cost fuel too, but ending your turn ("FUEL UP") will earn you a bit of fuel.

I got a straight plan on how to fix this now that I'm aware so many people have problems with it, but obviously, I'll have to wait until after the contest to do anything there.

Seeing all these games together is really great. Voting was very tough. I found it interesting that the three I voted for were not the most popular, but they appealed to me:

Nibble - a really exiting twist on a very old game. I especially like the way the graphics work and the way the trails make a fuzzy glow. I'd love to see how this was done. Fast and futrious.

Boing - a really great concept that I want to study for touch games on mobile. This is essentially a one-button game that requires planning and strategy but with ultra simple controls. I could play this all day on my phone!

Red - I like the simple maze quality of this and the colors. I don't think I'd ever play it with another person, but the main idea is beautiful and simple. I especially like the way you can warp to other parts of the maze.

Many of the other games were very close to getting a vote and I'm happy to see so many great games coming out of Construct 2. It is an accomplishment to even enter a contest like this and I had a lot of fun. I also learned a lot about Construct 2 and want tkeep on learning more.

Also I want to thank Venetia, who obviously put a ton of work and a lot of heart and soul into making this contest fun. Especially for adding things like promoting your game!

And, my game got at least one vote! I know my game is weird and it is the first one I've written in a very long time, but I had a lot of fun. Thanks, everyone for participating, and I hope there will be other contests soon. I suggested to someone on this board that you should have an RPG Maker VX Ace contest - somethign that could be done in a month, like a simple world. Maybe that will happen. I wonder if there is a web site that lets people know about game programming contests like this?
