I have an aunt and uncle who go get massage therapy. The place is filled crap like this. Besides oils and incense for aroma therapy they've got magnetic jewelry to help aches, books on reflexology and energy paths of the body, natural cures modern medicine doesn't want you to know. Borderline new age mysticism only it sounds scientific. Buy flashing red and blue LED lights to correct the body's frequencies ect. Eat these herbal pills for a bigger penis, ancient cultures used it so should you. I could go on.
My aunt told me not to get a flu shot because it's dangerous and "you don't know whats really in it''. Drink special polarized water to cleans the body. She's got some of the stuff on that site like the "acutrigger".

i use a vibrating toothbrush ... my teeth never really feel clean if i don't. i've heard that it's not a good idea b/c they make you lazy ... you don't scrub as hard. But I scrub just as hard ... IDK, I'm sure the efficacy is negligible.

as for using soap instead of toothpaste ... it doesn't have fluoride in it, so it doesn't strengthen enamel o.O. it may get your mouth reasonably clean, but it causes you to ingest a bunch of sulfates and crap that you shouldn't ingest (even if you don't swallow--you absorb shit through your soft palate).

Exatly! And if you use a vibrating toothbrush your breathe stays fresh (I love the feeling of a fresh breathe) longer then with a normal brush.

If you want an alternative to regular toothpaste (I'm allergic to fluoride... makes my gums bleed) then try a tee-tree oil toothpaste. You can usually find it at Whole Foods. If you want to make your teeth extra white don't bother with that strip kit crap. It makes your teeth sensitive. What you do is buy hydrogen peroxide and mix it with a bit of water. Squish it in your mouth BEFORE brushing your teeth. (It's gonna taste kinda bad and you don't want to swallow). Then once you are done brushing, it'll take a few days but instantly you should see a difference.

Flu Shots are bad btw. I used to work at a pharmacy and they put some really awful things inside it. A lot of the pharmacists wouldn't take the shots even for free, so that's gotta tell you something but the corporate heads kept telling us we have to advertise and push it. It's got things in it like formaldehyde. And what's fun is that it causes a huge increase in chance of getting Alzheimers... so it's kinda funny that it's given to old folks. It doesn't work half the time and some people get sick from it. Certain vaccines also can cause types of mobility problems (if allergic), and can also increase the chance of Autism in children. My opinion? Why risk something permanent for a temporary solution that MAY work? Flu shots aren't 100%. And why are we still giving vaccine for things like mumps to kids? Who has mumps?

MMR - I'm generally for, after reading Bad Science. Though I've probably just been brainwashed in the same way people were brainwashed against it in the Blair era in England. See, since people stopped getting the MMR jab (60% compared to 90% when I got it as a kid), deaths from M/M/R have gone up significantly, so it is doing something. The studies showing it causes autism are not scientific. They aren't suitable for publication in any scientific journal - they don't conduct fair trials, don't use enough test subjects, and in some cases don't even exist when cited.

Yeah it's always hard to tell. Besides the government would be in a shit ton of trouble if it turns out that it does hurt kids, because usually it's required for them to get certain vaccines before going to school. If it's true, they're gonna be hush hush about it. But I don't see a reason to do it if it's for diseases that aren't around anymore, either way.

I know bad science probably sounds like some sort of skeptics bible, but it's a book about scientific testing, how it works, examples of cases where it has been improperly used, and just plain quacks and hoaxes which have caused a lot of deaths (such as the millions who have died from AIDS having not taken medicines, due to one man's campaign against it).

The not taking pills for AIDS reminds me of a documentary I saw on tv... it was about a bunch of people with illnesses that were cured by some wacko doctor that claimed he was talking to the ghost spirits of doctors that told him what to do. There was one lady on there (30's) and she refused normal doctor treatment for her cancer so the quack doc could fix her.

ironic you should mention acupuncture. My dad's someone who is massively studied in eastern medicines, and knew acupuncture medicine better than his professors here in america when he had to get a certificate.
So far, most everything he's shown me works. I have stuffy nose? two needles in my face and like 4 to my left/right arm depending on the nostril solves it.

Everything else, idk. The soap thing seems interesting, but it seems more of a clean mouth rather than a good mouth. :\

as for the mmr thing, lots of people have taken hold of its belief, including big celebrities like jim carrey and jenny mccarthy. Saw the pbs presentation on the mmr thing, and it was like.... wut. Besides, most people just blame autism as something making them as savants or indigo children or something. They like to have something to blame.

The nostril you breathe through fluctuates every few minutes. The time it takes to tell your dad, get the needles, poke them in you and then breathe a bit is enough time for your brain to switch nostrils, thus solving your stuffy nose.

yeah it makes a huge difference.
it tastes pretty bad and makes everything taste strange for a while but it works pretty well.
only potential problem is that if you don't dilute it with a little water, and/or keep it in your mouth too long (>1-2 minutes) it can cause some weird temporary "bleach spots" on your front teeth. and make your gums a little lighter in color (but thats not really a big deal).

no. the studies suggesting this were debunked a few years ago. there's no known link between alzheimer's or autism and vaccines.

vaccines are a necessary evil for SOME diseases. like for rubella, polio, and tetanus -- things which can cause life-changing or life-threatening problems. the vaccines are proven to be 99.9999% safe and are only a benefit. but yeah, the mumps vaccine is relatively useless. i knew a few kids that got it. you just get puffy and have a bad cold for a week or so (there's a remote chance of infertility ... in like undeveloped, 3rd world countries w/o clean water etc.).

i also agree about the flu vaccine. it is probably a good idea for areas of the world where the flu is actually a killer. but in 1st world countries ... getting the flu is only a death sentence for those who are just absolutely so fragile that pretty much anything is a death sentence :P
