ANY browser is better than IE...mostly because a spyware or virus in IE can affect your entire operating system (You can't uninstall IE...wanna know why? Because it's hard coded into the OS. You use Firefox, you get fewer popups and spyware, because it's coded better, and it's not integrated with the OS).

So, if you use IE, you're basically putting your system at risk, no matter how good your spyware/adware/virus removal software is.

Plus, my Firefox looks exactly like IE, so I don't see the problem :P (And those who want it -exactly- like IE...there's a theme you can DL that makes it look like IE6)

It's possible to browse safely on IE - basically don't go to shady sites or use (non-BitTorrent) P2P or install freeware or shareware that doesn't have a proven track record. You might get adware occasionally, but it's surprisingly rare. I have found though that I don't even have to run AdAware anymore since I started using FireFox (a couple of years I think) even though I do run it from time to time anyway.

On the subject of themes, by the way, I suggest using Winestripe for FireFox 2.0 if you don't like the default. It makes it look like 1.5 which fits in alot better with Windows (and GTK actually).

Only, if you're just browsing like a NOT IDIOT, you won't be going to sites that purposely exploit your web browser. Also FireFox's security is not perfect either. It's mostly better for other reasons like AdBlock, GreaseMonkey, Styles, etc.

I've said it several times, IE is just fine if you, like Minkoff said, don't do stupid stuff.

The only time I've ever had spyware or virus problems is when I go right ahead like an idiot and click stupid links at seedy sites or on two occasions, actually download and launch an exe.

I use Mozilla. It doesn't have wierd tabs like IE7 and you can customize where each bar goes and what you have on each bar (and you don't have the stupid back and forward at the top of the window).

Plus for some unknown reason, between IE and MSN loads of spyware came through (gone now), but I'm not have IE screw my computer up again ^_^
