Blackadder ;-;

I just found myself watching the 25th anniversary Blackadder special again. (A documentary about Blackadder that GOLD did last year).

It really gets me emotional. It’s the only program ever to do that to me. Sure there are some really good shows out there – Red Dwarf, Only Fools, and so on, but none of them make you laugh as much as Blackadder. None of them have the same charm, the same wit, the same actors, the same scripting.

I know it’s cliched but take the final scene for example. Incredibly shittily made, but amazing to watch. Even the awful soundclip of birdsong when they fade in the poppy field fits perfectly.

I honestly don’t think we’ll ever, ever see anything as good as Blackadder again, and I don’t think there’s ever been anything as good. What’s more, they’ll never make another Blackadder. They couldn’t; the old series’ are just so good.

Some notes:

- Christmas carol was… bleh

- Series one is better watched after the other three. It’s not quite Blackadder

I want to see Bald Rick. But Tony Robbins looks like something he likes to dig up so it will never happen.
