BioShock 2

the entire backstory was explained via audio diaries, and the entire future of the main character was explained in the good ending.
from what I gather, Jack isn't in this at all. parallel stories can easily be present. besides, you can't expect an entire underwater civilization to just go away.

It's been reported that multiplayer is going to make an appearance in the game. I'm curious to see how they would pull this off. I guess a persistent character class. Possibly gaining Adam to spend on gene upgrades, that'll provide for some interesting gameplay. I doubt it will feel genuine and not forced, however.

I hope multiplayer doesn't completely take the scary out of the game (plus, what would the other player look like? Would they be another character from the plot, and if so, wouldn't that mean that player would have to tag along as a bot in the single player versiont too?). I assume we're talking about co-op. Matchmaking making less sense to the point of counting against the game if it is included.

I really wish the game was on land, and you were in some quiet town that was being attacked by splicers who had come out from under the sea. Ah well, hopefully they can pull it off.

EDIT- Btw, on http://www.somethinginthesea.com/, in the middle on the left (the newspaper cover), doesn't the photo in the background look like a Rosie?

I would assume that the multiplayer mode would be separate from the main campaign, sort of an arena deal. I can't see the main story mode doing very well with co-op play, unless the gameplay style has changed considerably.

no its going to be a separate deal. of course it's not going to be multiplayer in the single-player campaign, lol. That'd be silly. Bioshock is all about the story mode. Multiplayer add-ons are simply gravy. i havent read much about it but it one obvious mode could be: one person plays as the main character or Big Sister, and then all the other players in the room are splicers. Or a free-for-all between big daddies or something. They could really do a lot with it. Especially since you can set up traps and get some really big weapons in this game.

Hmm? I was so sure if multiplayer was a feature, it would be co-op. A matchmaking feature would feel so much more tacked on, and BioShock was reknowned for being scary. Matchmaking couldn't really be made scary, especially with the headset.

the multiplayer doesn't have to be atmospheric, the main story does. if they can manage it, good on them, but multiplayer definitely doesn't signify that the atmosphere of the whole game is broken.

I mean bishock is famous for atmosphere I guess but it's also famous for cool weapons so!

Well if you've grabbed a look at some of the short little video clips of the game, you'll notice the atmosphere is spot on. And judging by the looks of it, the game has some even crazier lighting and textures. I have a feeling the multiplayer aspect of the game is going to take the use of cool weaponry and plasmid usage to the next level, and not focus primarily on atmosphere.

EDIT: To add on to the co-op scenario, I feel co-op would ruin the single player atmosphere. Although you are no longer this lone sane(or so you think) man in a world full of crazy stuff, I think having a player character tagging along with you would ruin the individuality of the player's role in the story. Even in BS2, the individuality exists; you are a lone rouge big daddy, and you have the superior intellect and reasoning of being the first one created.
