Bingo Minigame Project

I have decided that one of the ways players in my game can bet is through bingo. The concept of bingo, if you are not familiar with it, is to get five in a row. This can happen horizontally, virtically, or diagonally. The game will randomly pick a ball, numbered 1 to 24. This happens only ten times, giving the player a limited chance to win. The middle one with the '$' is a free spot, the rest of the balls are numbered. Row 1 has numbers 1 through 5, Row 2 has numbers 6 through 10, Row 3 has numbers 11 through 14, Row 4 has numbers 15 through 19, and Row 5 has numbers 20 through 24. This is better explained by the screenshots.

The win grid is this.
4 draws : x400
5 draws : x200
6 draws : x100
7 draws : x50
8 draws : x25
9 draws : x10
10 draws : x5

After the tenth draw, the player loses thier bet if they haven't gotten a win. If there is a win, the game pays it out immedately. When there is a chance the player will win, the possible balls light up and flash with a fun little sound effect. The game warns them they are about to win. I want to keep this fair, as long as it doesn't pay out too fast.

So, what do you think? Will this make a good minigame or am I just wasting my time? It was the most interesting but plausible betting system I could think of. I could have had a guess the number game... but I wanted something with more of an exciting buildup.

All eventing, as of now. I think I'm going to have to script it, but I wanted to see if it was possible without scripts. It may not be, but I still wanted to try it first. My professors have been dumping alot of work on me, so I may not have alot of time to work on this particular project.

Anyway it looks pretty awesome, I my self am an eventer, but I'm only beginning using RMXP bout a month ago lol.

I believe it is possible with events. It would take a lot of work, but from the way I'm thinking, it would still be possible. =p I'm like a megaeventer. I make all my systems and stuff from events. Don't get me wrong, I bet coding it would be a lot easier, but for people who don't know how to code, eventing is where it's at. =)

Oh, I know how to code. I am just seeing to what extent eventing could work in circumstances like this. Scripting would be much much easier. I am a video game programming student, and I know quite a few languages. My interest lies within the limits of the system, not within doing something due to limitations of myself or my skill set. I could have this done from scratch in less then a few hours.

Looks like a fun little diversion. It definitely has the random feel of something like a one-armed bandit or a scratch-off insta-win. Not my *personal* favorite kind of gambling (love to see some blackjack or even hold'm; I like to pretend there's some strategy in how I'm throwing away my GP  ), but if this was a scripted version I'd totally drop it in as a tavern game. I can appreciate why you've chosen to go the event route. I've only had XP for half a day and already I think I'm in love.

So what are the tokens purchased for? Basically just replays?

Tokens are perchased to play the game. The player will have to buy the tokens at a high cost, probably 20 GP per token. The tokens do not transfer back directly, but the player can use tokens they have won to buy some cool items or skills. The items can be sold if the player wants to get some extra GP, but the trick is that an item might cost 3000 tokens (60,000 gold) but will only sell for 3500 gold. You would have to start with a small amount and win a ton in order to beat the system.

I like the concept, mini-games are always fun. This reminds me of a plug & play event system or something similar. Just a bit confused about this:

Can you explain it a little? This whole thing sounds a bit more complicated than Bingo should be, but maybe I'm just an idiot.

Alright basically the game is going to draw up to ten balls. Each ball that is drawn will light up that sqaure on the bingo board. If you get five in a row, then you win. If it only takes four draws for you to win you get 400 times your bet in winnings. Five draws till you win, 200 times your bet in winnings... so on and so forth. Does that make sense? After ten draws, if there are no bingos, you lose. The drawing also stops when you win, then you get your winnings and have the choice to continue or give up.

Okay, I get it now. I'm a little curious to see how this'll work out. Just a little concerned that maybe the player will get money too quickly, because if they got really lucky just once, then they have 400 times their bet already.

The chances of winning a x400 is low, very low. That's just to keep the player's hopes up while they give me all their extra GP... buhahahwhaha
