BGM & ME not playing

In XP, My background music won't play. The other sounds play fine, editor or in game. I have not run XP on this system before, but my older system which is similar I have run it. I am running Windows Server 2003. EDIT: It also doesn't play ME, but it will play SE and BGS.

And make sure you are using MIDs or MP3s (preferably MIDs aka MIDI) for BGM.

Actually, the default BGM files are all midis, which means that he has to make sure that SW Synth is greater than 0. I've noticed in the past that a lot of Microsoft computers default that to off, and most people never notice until they try something like RMXP.

Oh, and Kiriashi, you're using a Dell, right? You might want to check for an update to your Sigmatel audio drivers. Dell hasn't released many computers with the updated drivers.

Nope, I'm using a mac. :p

The SW Synth increases with the regular volume though, so that's why I highlighted Wave. Either way, raising all of em' above zero won't hurt.

Wow. I didn't realize that Macs used SigmaTel Audio. I recommend checking for an update to it anyway. (Mostly, the update was released to include a "Stereo Mix" option, which allows you to record whatever's playing on your computer) Whatever the case, on most PC's, the SW Synth slider does not move with the main volume control, and it often defaults to 0.

All of them are at max and no mutes. EDIT: It also doesn't play ME.

It looks like your computer ins't playing midi files, then. You'll have to go into the sound options in the control panel to see if the computer has a midi synth set up, or if you need to just set the sefault synth device.
