Bestiarium [RPG Maker Ace]

Hello dear community. I would like to introduce you to my current project. But first, I would note that I
(as the title suggests) come from Germany and my English is not the best so please forgive
me a few (I hope so =D) mistakes in the following text.
Anyway, my game is called "Bestiarium" and it is a very simple card game for the RPG Maker VX Ace.
So please do not expect a profound card game like Magic or Yu-Gi-Oh. Because if I say it's simple,
than it is really very simple. You can even call it a pseudo-card game if you want. ;)
As is mentioned before, this game is in german. I will translate it to english after i finished the german version.

Instructions and information about the game:
A game runs over 2 rounds (3 for a tie). In each round, the player selects 3 monstercards from his deck.
These three monsters will compete against the three monsters of the opponent. The game will only
have monster cards. There are no planned Spell Cards or similar cards like that. It will also have no custom battle system.
The game runs completely over pictures, so there is no Map in the the game where you can run over with characters.
I have currently planned about 400-500 monster cards. The player has only 5 of them unlocked at the beginning of the game. The remaining cards must be won or unlocked by purchasing booster packs.


Cards
Here you can see my Design for the Cards. Unfortunately I currently have only German versions
of the images at hand. But I'll explain it a little bit for you (German lessons for you, jeah ^ ^).

Above you can see the name of the front card and the lifepoints. The three numbers at the bottom left standing from left to right for Resistance against Sun-Magic, Resistence against Moon-Magic, and last but not least the Agility. The German word above them is standing for the class (dragon, human, spirit, demon,angel, ...). Each card has a class and an element (fire, water, ...).
The class defined the special ability of the card. So Demons can do pre-emptive strikes, while angels
can resurrect dead allies. The agility stands for the order in which the cards can operate during a battle.

Each card has also Skillpoints (SP in english) and Actionpoints (AP).

The SP will be fully charged at the start of each round and can normally not be regenerated.
So if they are empty, the card can not use any Skills for the rest of the battle. Skills can't do damage to enemys.
They are there for buffs/debuffs and other thinks like that. Each card also has the ability "energy charge".
This gives the card 1 AP. This ability can be used unlimited and it is the only way to recieve AP. In principle, this ability is
similar to the Energy-Cards from the Pokemon TCG.

Actions will be paid with action points (AP). The number of AP starts as opposed to the SP in each
round at 0 and can only be increased by the above mentioned skill "energy charge". Actions can deal damage
to enemys. Actions vary as well into Sun-Magic, Moon-Magic and Star-Magic.
The damage of actions is fixed and therefore it does not vary. The formula for the calculation of damages is simple,
it is just the strength of the Action - Sun/Moon Resistance.
Example: A Sun-Spell has a strength of 70, the front card above has 5 points resistance against Sun-Magic.
So the damage is 70-5 = 65 Damage (except for weaknesses).
Star-Magic can cause direct damage to the enemy. Defense values ​​are not considered.

Battle-System

Here you can see the battle system. It is the Yanfly Battle Ace-Script with a lot of my pictures.
On the right side you can see your charakter, while the left side shows your currently enemy. This picture above is really old, but it is the only one i have while the game is running. The new version of the design is this (It is directly from photoshop, so there is logically no command-window). You can be choose between more Designs within the game. The tribales are animated and swings at little bit in the "wind".

Adventure-Mode

There is also an Adventure-Mode in this game. In this mode, you can level up your Character-Level and play various match-typs on many different locations. You can win unique Cards and Money there to buy new Booster-Paks.

- Adventure-Mode with Level-System, Worldmap, Events,...
- Highly customizable (Background, Cursors, Colors, everything)
- Booster-Paks can be purchased
- Guest-Cards from german and english RPG-Maker Games like "Velsarbor" and many more
- Currently no demo available
- Will be finished in almost 2-3 months.
- 20-30 Cards can be merged together

I read some of long stuff, but didn't understand much when you got onto AP & SP since it is so hot here right now, sorry.
So I skimmed and read some of the TL;DR part. It looks pretty cool I have to say.
Though explaining the mechanics is; becomes wordy.

Might I suggest releasing a 'tutorial' demo? Say like, 10 cards in total within that tutorial?
That way peeps will be able to follow the mechanics easier.
 
Oh, thanks for your feedback. I think i can edit the text in a few days to explain the battle system a litte bit better, but it is not that hard to understand.

I dont wanted to release a demo or something like that, because when i am ready to release a demo, i can also release a full version with a little bit more work.
 
Wow. First off this game looks really neat; you dont ever see a system with cards. Is the art on the cards custom? And 400-500 cards, thats a lot. Must of taken a serious amount of work to get where you are. The battle system also sounds really cool (I understood it!) Are cards balanced or are some cards clearly better than others?

So far everything looks good (there is not much to comment on). All I can say is that you better finish this!
 
Mostly all of the Monsters are not custom. But a few friends have already painted some Monsters. The Cards are balanced, but of course there are bad cards and good cards, but the difference is not that big.
