I'm looking for movement like that in a side-scrolling beat-em'-up game, such as the Simpsons arcade game, where characters can only face left and right, but move around normally. Not only visibly, but also limiting the angle the hero/events can check from to only left and right.
Changing the character sprite so that the up and down angles are also left and right is only a partial solution, as the direction the character is facing may change seemingly at random and the hero/event's checking area isn't immediately apparent.
Preferably this would be compatible with f0tz!baerchen's pixel movement script (http://nachtmasken.rpgxp.de/wb/pages/scripts-en.php).
