Battle Visuals

Hey, just looking for some quick C&C for my game's graphics. Note that this is not an in-game
shot, but a mock-up thrown together to see how the graphics look together. Also note that the
background is a temporary sollution since there's not background graphics for the project yet.
Please tell me why you don't like it if you don't! The duplicated face is also a replacement for being
short one face graphic at the moment - It's not pixelart though, so there would be no need to comment
on them here. Cheers

The grey is boring. Since it looks like a scifi game you could give it a metallic shine with maybe kinks in it or rusty edges. Have wires poping out like it's some kind of computer interface. Everything is lined up and spaced evenly, it's not very edgy. Maybe framing the faces at an angle or off set the meters.
I'm not a fan of the colored bars. This is more of a functional issue, but I wouldn't use bars unless its for something that's in % or an enemy health gauge. Your characters will probably have different stats so a bar of equal length isn't a good representation. From the looks of it you'll only get to see the numbers when the player's turn comes up.

The enemy graphics look ok. I don't like the character with the knife. He's hair doesn't match with the portrait, and his weapons blend in with his clothes. You could put a little dark blue or purple into either to separate them without having to change the color completely. On a sprite this size I wouldn't bother trying to give him a goatee because it'll look like a beard or his mouth is open.

Hey, thanks for the criticism. I will try to adjust the colours of the character's hair to make it match the portrait, as well as changing some pixels to get the correct shape. Thanks for the tips for his weapons too.

The game isn't sci-fi the way you would usually think of a sci-fi, although it has some elements from the genre. The enemies in this picture doesn't really represent the game that well, as there are a lot of different types of enemies. Nonetheless, I appreciate your tips for the boxes, and I'll see what I can do!

The gauges were meant to give a quick overview of the characters' stats, and I was planning to give the players the possibility to check the characters in more detail by clicking on their portraits. I might still chose to follow your recommendation, and replace the bars with numbers in stead.

Once again, really appreciate your comment, and I will try to come with an update as soon as possible.
