Bananas are so tasty!

I decided to take part in the Art Academy because I really like drawing but I, unfortunately, suck at it when it comes to digital drawing.


I've bought myself a wacom tablet to start drawing with PS do other misc things.
Now I'm working on objects shape and maybe shadows then I'll move to coloring, following Tana's teachings at the same time.

I like the banana's shape but I feel that there's something wrong with its shadow.
What do you think.

I dont think that the shadow would bend like that. I think it would more likely go straigh across. I'll do a quick edit to show you what i mean.

EDIT: I think it should go more like this.

This is because even though the banana bend's at the end the light source is coming straight over it from the right. The bend of the shadow is in the wrong direction it should be straight like the edit above. I hope you understand what i mean.

The shadow should come out more and surround the bottom of the banana a bit more, from what i see. Use a light source and lines to help you...it gives you a more approximate calculation of how the light works.

Dont forget, shadows disperse as the object gets higher or near the end of the shadow. You have a solid one value shadow which is a no.

Alot better...i love the added variation in shadow too distance...i caN'T Exactly suggest much more.

Good stuff Selwyn. The dissolved shadow looks really good. You guys are wanting me to take up designing again. Sadly, I can't draw real life to save my life. I personally did more abstract and design art.

Just as another suggestion...
I would put a very small part of shadow to the Right of the bananna, not only to the left.
and shade the bananna, so that it is darker at the bottom. (it is already, but not in the left side, where the shadow is...)
