Hello, fellow HBGamers! For those of you who know me, it's good to be back home. For those of you who don't, you don't know how lucky you are, boy.
Other than being a very unsuccessful indie game developer, I'm a 22-year-old, fifth year Medicine student. I'm two years from graduating, which scares the living shit out of me.
Now, seriously, I've been studying strenuously for my exams the third and fourth quarter of this year. Everything seems pretty cool from my small part of the world.
I read a news article last week about how MegaUpload was shutting down, and did in fact shut down thanks to the FBI. I'm not siding with MegaUpload or the FBI, but I'm mad the bureau since I lost some uploaded files.
Anyhow, I'm back. I'm definitely not doing the whole RPG Maker XP shiatsu any longer. It's an immense time waste, and I have great appreciation for all those people who actually made playable demos and complete games. You guys know exactly who you are and you rock.
A more in depth analysis of this situation has led me to believe that you guys shouldn't be messing around with RPG Maker XP. With a little more effort, you could probably get yours game published on the Android or Apple markets, and make big bucks.
I'll be here if you need me. I know how to script in various languages, including, but not limited to: HTML, CSS, Javascript, Java, C++, and Ruby.
Actually, all the work I've done lately has been in C++. I've been using an SDK (Standard Development Kit) called DragonFire. It's worth giving it a shot. It costs between $100 and $200, and lets you compile apps for the iPhone and iPad from your PC. As a matter of fact, I'm currently working on an iPhone/iPad game using DFSDK.
Also, I thought maybe we could include some DFSDK into our forums since this seems to be going on the rise, but has no decent existing forums. After all, this IS HomeBrewGames.org.
It's good to be back home.
