AVG says RMXP Game.exe is infected

I don't know where else to put this, but whenever I try running RMXP's Game.exe or viewing a folder containing it, my AVG anti-virus always tells me it's infected by IRC/BackDoor.SdBot4.MZS.
The problem only started today. A Google search turned up two Japanese sites with the same infection, also in Game.exe, and also posted today.
So, is this an actual threat, or (more likely), a false positive from AVG's latest update? I want to make sure before running my game again...

i got AVG but i downloaded RMXP from www.download.com (you maybe did that you too hopefully.

I have expired problems with the "overdriven" security from the AVG... But i think this is a real alert this time... since the name.... I think its a trojan... The name sounds familiar...

Trojan Horse IRC/Backdoor.SDBot4 is a trojan that creates a backdoor port on infected computer that allows remote unauthorized access. Trojan Horse IRC/Backdoor.SDBot4 usually take commands and utilize an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) port.

It infects small files.. and the risk of getting it is low.... i think you got it by chatting in a IRC with not-updated AVG (I red your post... you said it was updated so i know that) or turned off...

But... All this can be a false positive alert too... So i suggest to make the game.exe as a exception.

Do you have the free or paid version of AVG?

It's a false positive. I got a computer out that's basically a clean Windows install, downloaded AVG and the sample game from http://tkool.jp/products/rpgxp/eng/down ... samplegame, and it still came up.
You can make it an exception (I couldn't find out how though), or just turn off AVG's resident shield until they fix it so you can at least run games for now .-.

Make it as an exception (Super Easy Tutorial)
1. Open AVG User Interface
2. Click on "Tools" and then click "Advanced settings"
3. Click on the "+" at "Resident Shield" and then click "Exceptions"
4. Then click "Add Path"
5. Locate the folder of the "game.exe"
6. Click it
7. Press "OK"
8. Press "OK" again to save your settings
9. Rise up
10. Jump around in the room and yell: Cheese and Carrot

Thanks for clearing this up. I've never got that message before, so I thought it might be a false positive; however, it's better to be safe than sorry :)

EDIT: I think it's been fixed anyway.
