Automatically getting rid of text messages

Hi, i want to have in my game a text message which automatically disappears after a few seconds. Any ideas on how to this?

Maybe use a series of show image and hide image? It won't be manipulable by the player but I think it'll get the job done..

If there wasnt a way to automatically get rid of the messages then i was going to do that. Thanks

there are several message scripts out there, i think the one i used to use was Coco's AMS but i could be wrong about the author
