Assistance needed with timer.

I've never used this feature before and could do with some help. Im making a level where a satellight is going to fire a lazer beam if the clock runs out. I know how to do the animation of the event but dont know how to trigger it with a timer.

Basically I need help with setting up a timer, possibly with the aid of screenshots (my eyesight is bad so this would be of great help, that will keep running through at least 7 maps and a means of triggering the event once it hits 0.

If you don't know that, at the very least would someone mind telling me how to make a timer event just for one map.

Thanks very much.

Well, you might start with the Event command Control Timer, for one.

It's right there on the first page of event commands. Second column, fourth from the top. (In XP. I'm not sure where they stuck it in VX, but you didn't say which Maker you are using.)

To check the timer, you'll need a parallel process event which has to be a different event from the timer. If you want the timer to be checked on every map, the timer-checking event needs to be a common event. From there, it's just a matter of having the parallel process event check the timer with a conditional branch. (First page of conditional branch options, bottom option.)

Just choose the event command Control Timer and then check the radio button Stop. That makes the timer disappear.

Oh! And you'll want to put this in a conditional branch that check if the timer is less than or equal to zero. (I would've said equal to... but that's not one of the options for some reason.)
