Assassin's Creed II

i never even played the first one. i gots a shiny new kinda-dated computer than can more than likely run it tho, so i'll give it a try (the first one, i mean)

if i dont like it - you owe me 20$

Assassin's Creed was the first PS3 game I got (before MGS4 (yes I am a MGS4 fag)) and I absolutely loved the game as a core. I always thought assassins were dressed in all black and hid in the shadows and had samurai swords and ninja stars. This put a whole new spin on the term for me. Rather than senseless killing and violence and whatnot, Altair has a goal of peace, as does his master Al Mualim.

The whole plot twist at the end really pissed me off because I hate the fact that DESMOND IS SUCH A WHINEY FAGGOT DESPITE HAVING COOLSHIT ANCESTORS. I was also led to believe that Desmond will be the "main character" of the next game, and that the new character (Ezio de la Someshit) will be related to Altair somehow. He's supposed to be some kind of lordling in Itlay. Also, my friend got a leaked picture of the new Ezio:

Definitely in Italy this time around, as stated previously. And for the leaked GameInformer cover, I have it saved on my PS3 harddrive, but am unable to get to it being about 30 miles away from home atm. It's essentially the same thing only it says stuff about MAG (one of my most watched, highly anticipated PS3 games) at the top or something. Really cool.

I'd also like to add that the trailer seems to suggest the ability to glide (Da Vinci). What does everyone else think?

EDIT: I just realized he has two blades and ALL FINGERS INTACT. wtf ubisoft.

There will be a flying level. They talk about it in the new issue of game informer. That's where I am getting most of my information. Apparently, Desmond is descended from Ezio who is descended from Atair. As for there being two knives, and all fingers intact, da Vinci has revised the original design to allow all fingers to remain.

Well, thanks for letting me in on that Darkfire :)

Fayte, the issue with that was that Altair had his left ring finger cut off in order for the hidden blade to work (I presume, unless that was just some kind of orientation into the Assassin's clan or something.) Seeing as how Altair had his finger removed and only had one, I noticed that Ezio had TWO hidden blades, with 10 fingers. Just seemed odd to me. But Darkfire cleared it all up for me, thanks.

I wasn't able to follow the story for the first one, because THERE WERE NO SUBTITLES. I wasn't able to hear ANYTHING of what the people were saying. Only reason why I knew what to do with my missions was because they were on the map. I'm very hard of hearing, so the fact that there were no subtitles was an immensely HUGE turn off for me. I do hope the second one has subtitles. The game(s) with the best subtitles I've ever seen are anything from Valve. They even have sound effects in the captions.. it's amazing. Especially helps me in L4D

Summary with spoilers:

Altair makes a huge no-no at the beginning with the templars, and then tries to redeem himself to Al Mualim by assassinating 9 people who are "sinning", but still working towards the same goal as the Assassin's. You learn that all of the 9 wanted to bring peace to the Holy Land, and wanted to share the treasure that Al Mualim has, except for Al Mualim. Then you have to kill him and whatnot and it's all very depressing. Then the REAL ending is highly faggish.

I played the beginning of Assassin's Creed, and I was blown away by the graphics, like everyone else, but I found it quite a boring game. Maybe I didn't understand the plotline or maybe it gets better as you go along, but for me there was no real element of danger, as it sounded you like you were just in a computer, and then it annoyed the hell out of me with the button appearing on screen, me pressing it, moving a bit then another button appearing and me pressing it.
I probably just didn't get far enough into the game, but I found it quite dull during the first 15 minutes.

The first 15 minutes are really not enough to rate the game. Hell, you won't even get to your first assassination.
I really liked how you could plan all murders in many different fashions.
I personally liked to make the townspeople my friends and when my victim tried to get away I chased him right into a group of them. And then as he can't get away... Brilliant

I like the new info about part II, by the way. Seems promising.

That's one of the main objectives for AC2 so don't worry about that. ;)

I'm working on the XBOX360 and PS3 versions only, as for other consoles, I'm not very aware of and can't talk about it.
Yeah I thought you'd say that, but my brother wouldn't listen to me :/

Have you found me in the team picture? :)

I bought the first one, thinking it looked too good to pass up. But its one of the few games I own, that Ive never finished. Its boring!

The cutscenes go on way too long, and they are frequent and unskippable. The climbing on stuff seems pretty cool at first until you realise the guy pretty much does it all by himself, all you have to do is press up. And yeah, theres the repetitiveness that everyone complains about.

So if you can fix all that, then sure. I'll give it a try. But I wont buy it until after Ive rented it first.

I loved the climbing in the first one.. that was my absolute favorite thing to do. Just climb buildings and jump around on rooftops. The climbing felt rewarding when you got to the top, don't change that.
