Awesome Bro

Hey guys! Lately I've been working on an art style that's very simple yet VERY effective. It can create atmospheres in seconds and bring out the best of your ideas.

I call it "Sharbeck".

Why Sharbeck? Well I hate my own name and well ... I don't really know! Go Sharbeck! Anyway, Down to business ...

Below are a few pieces I've been working on in the last few days, Things that I've wanted to do for a while, But couldn't find a method of doing it effectively. Now I have and I'm pumping these things out like there's no tomorrow!

I'll be posting more as they come along, or you can catch the process on my site. I'd post the link in here but I'm sure I'd get a spanking.

Take care!

That's how I started this style. I was actually making them with my girlfriends eye shadow and a napkin. Using shapes with dfifferent shades creating layers that flow nicely. But after an hour or two she yelled at me and beat me sensless ...

Call the police please ;-;
I have the foundations of a new piece on the horizon. It shoud be here soon. I'll get some scans of the eye shadow ones too.

I also need to create more textures to use in the pieces. I feel in areas they're a little bland when it comes to detail. But saying that, the simplicity of it gives it a juvenile and effective outcome.

Thanks for the reply, Venetia.

Makeup is GREAT for art! I used to use lipstick instead of acrylics a while back, and mascara for outlines, it was pretty cool ... But very messy. Makeup's not really designed to be archival-quality ;')

P.S. It was my own, so no one could beat me senseless ;')

I called the police but it'll take a while for Tampa police to reach England, hold tight.

Very cute!

Reminds me of Tim Burton combined with J. Vasquez ("Nightmare before Christmas" meets "Invader Zim")

The second piece (with the house) is just awesome! Dreamy, cartoony and fun.

I'd love to see more :)

Stevo,

I can hardly load one of your images, let alone three.

Now I don't know if it's because I live in China but man, your website loads something SLOW.

I tried to register on your forum but eventually gave up as it took too much time.

I hope you can fix this in the near future as I would most likely be an active member in your forum.

Haha, I keep forgetting you're female. I may have to invest in some make-up 8-)

It's okay now, cancel the emergency. She's backed off, I'm safe.

Well I am a big fan of both, Mainly Tim Burton so maybe the influence from their work has a presence :)

You will be seeing more soon. I just have a busy few days ahead of me. Dang :(

Cheers, though!

Tell me about it, man! It isn't your location, It's my outdated websiting skills. I 'm sure I was on crack when I made that template and the way it portrays the content. I'm currently in the middle of making a new one with faster loading times. I'm doing my best to make it minimalistic so pretty much ANYONE can see what's going on.

As for the forum, Don't bother. It was only a little phpBB thing I set up so e and my friends could share files with one another. My new site should be containing a message system that will be available for each and every article (No membership necessary) So you can just talk your little head off there.

I'm sorry again for my site, Try to understand I had the idea EVERYBODY had broadband internet and a ?1,000 computer :p

It's all done in photoshop. I sketch them first, scan them, then trace over and add necessary textures etc etc. Everything within them is my own, no brushes, no downloaded textures was worth, that's why I thought it was worth starting a copy.

And yeah, Big fan of Nightmare before Christmas, But I'm trying to keep things unique.

Thanks for the comment!

I like how your girlfriend beats you.

I really like this stuff, it reminds me of tokidoki for some reason.
Aha, that's probably just me though. REGARDLESS. I like it.

I don't have it anymore, it was on my old laptop which wont get far enough to take the files off it...the fans stopped working and i can't do much about it atm.

I'll have to redo one sometime.

I love the work stevo, I agree its got a Tim Burton feel. The picture of the house at night time, with the swirly stars reminds me of the ending credits of an old Irish childrens tv show I used to watch called the Morbegs.
