About ArcBlanc
ArcBlanc (aka Project Rewrite) was originally an episodic RMXP game series that was created and posted in these Project Discussion forums and other forums some years ago. Because of outside factors, the project had to be cancelled. I am now ready to start the project back up anew, as a reimagining of my original ideas. I was very adamant about working on the project alone before, but for a concept as broad as what I have, the project will not advance far into development with one person at the helm. I plan to have original sprites, original tilesets, a possible original battle system, pseudo-animated full screen cutscenes (no voice acting), and many more.



Story
Castle ArcBlanc, home of the king, queen, and princess of the ArcBlanc Kingdom, falls under siege and is taken over. The king and queen are killed, and the princess flees with her guardian. A new king takes over the kingdom and is spending most of the kingdom's men and resources to hunt the princess down, because he believes that she was told of the ArcBlanc Kingdom's greatest secret by the king and queen before they passed...

The story actually revolves around 2 groups of people: a girl and her older brother looking to leave their current life of child slavery and abuse behind, and the kingdom's Princess and her guardian on the run from the new King. Why things are the way they are and how both groups of people are involved in the overall story will be addressed in detail in the game. The story is of a somewhat political nature.



Characters

Note: Characters are not named because the player will be prompted to name them when they become playable.

The girl: She and her older brother are trying to find a way to escape their village, which has been a location of chid slavery and abuse, brought about by the adult villagers to create resources to appease the local bandits that frequently attack their village. She is often bullied by her fellow child slaves.

The girl's brother: He and his younger sister are trying to find a way to escape their village, which has been a location of chid slavery and abuse, brought about by the adult villagers to create resources to appease the local bandits that frequently attack their village. He does his best to protect his sister from bullies, but he himself is also bullied by the village adults.

The princess: She is on the run with her guardian. They are running away from the King and his loyal subjects, and are hoping to recieve asylum in another kingdom. The princess is charged with finding and reaching a certain destination while avoiding capture by the King and his men.

The guardian: She is on the run with the princess. They are running away from the King and his loyal subjects, and are hoping to recieve asylum in another kingdom. The guardian is charged with protecting the princess until she reaches her destination, wherever it is.

I have only had 2 demo downloads in almost a month. As such, I feel pressured to post pictures to increase the chance that people actually take a look at my project. I don't have pictures of the game I am working on. I have pictures of the downloadable demo at the bottom of this post. Here they are.

I really don't know what else to do at this point. I don't have the help necessary to begin real work on the project, so I have to post pictures of an old project in hopes that things will get moving. At this rate, the thread might as well be for the old project.




Features

These will be updated as the project moves along. If I can get good help and the project begins to move along, I might include other features for mini-games. Possibly things like card games or monster catching/battling (Pokemon). I have outlines and such for how these games would work. I just need the help to make them a reality.

Demo
I really did not want to post this, because people will think that this project will be similar to this old demo when it is actually going to be very different. But seeing as I'm not getting any replies, I have to show something else. With this, at least, you'll be able to get an idea of what my game could look/be like. THIS IS NOT A DEMO OF THIS PROJECT. IT IS A DEMO OF THE PROJECT THAT THIS CURRENT PROJECT WILL BE REMAKING. 90% of the things you will see in this demo is not going to be in the remake.

Every upload site could not upload the .exe file for the game properly, but they could upload each seperate file in the folder without a problem. So the first post has been updated with 4 link under the demo section. A link for Audio.rar, Game.exe, Game.ini, and Game.rgssad. Download the files and extract the audio folder, and place the 3 files and audio folder into a new folder named ArcBlanc.

The demo is long enough to be a small game (2 to 4 hours), so there's a lot to go by if you want to critique. Enjoy.

There is a lot more to this, but this is all I will post for now. Of course, members helping me out will get more info as to who these people are and how the storyline plays out, and I will update with more info as the project progresses, but for now, this is it. Yeah, now that you have a demo included with your project Project Discussion would be a better forum for this topic. I'll go ahead and move it for you. It'll get more activity there, anyways. ;)
 
This demo is not a demo of my project. It is a demo of the original game that this project will be a remake of. I have no pictures of the actual project. No one was going to post in this thread unless I gave them something to look at, so I posted this demo of the original project that I worked on years ago. At least with this people will have an idea of what my project could offer.

i downloaded the demo. the story is wel thought of, and the dialogue is great, but there are also some flaws, like the mapping. So, i know why you are remaking this and the result could be really good :)
 
Well, here's my contribution for the PCP so far, and it's in bullet form, if you don't mind. I hope I'm not being too harsh.
Campfire
• Impressive title and music
• Spaces in between the dialogue are realistic in some cases, but slightly annoying, especially when the same person is talking, and just going on.
• Graphics and sound effects are kind of a let-down after the amazing title screen.
• Your tall grass is somewhat square in the first map
• I don’t see a need for quotation marks around all of the characters’ dialogue.
• Nice wide screen effect
• Kids saying yes a whole bunch of times gets annoying.
Invasion
• Don’t use photographs in your game
• In the Lay of the Goddess scene, there are many words that are capitalised for no apparent reason.
• When you’re the only one in the credits, why bother?
• I suggest getting different sprites for the two night guards so the age difference is more apparent.
• They must be yelling to hear each other from the other side of the building.
• The throne room map is humongous, and the tables with the decorations are odd.
• Where exactly does the queen throw the white-garbed people? Through the ceiling?
• Why do the king and queen know how to fight?
Bar and Onwards
• The screen tone for the interior of the bar is much too red.
• Why did you split up the credits like that?
• I think the music for the bar should suit the instruments shown. How do you sing and play the violin at the same time? Your jaw is what’s holding the violin up. This probably just another technicality, though, me being kind of a musician myself.
• Where is Kianna’s faceset for the first few times she talks?
• The outside is also too red, and the sunlight graphic is obtrusive.
Minigames…yay?
• In the tutorial, would you mind putting a controls section? I thought it would auto scroll, then I wasted a few seconds doing nothing. The minigame got really annoying, really quickly. Make the players’ first experiences good ones, not ones that’ll make them want to punch Arshes in the face for being slower than the butterflies in the background. Seriously though, he’s slower than the butterfly. The instructions say you need fast reflexes, but you forgot to include a fast computer. There is quite a bit of lag whenever there are lots of pirates on the screen, which is most of the time, then Arshes got hit, then again, and again…There is no way to escape from the rest of the line once you get hit once. It’s a nice idea, but it’s poorly executed. Having a more exciting background to look at would also be nice, and a screen small enough for it to not go up and down with the character. My end time was about 0:25.
• The timer should go away once you complete the first stage. I was so worried about the time running out during dialogue!
• I feel like killing the squirrel right now, blocking the bridge like that. Was it intentional?
• Sometimes the ghosts would pass through the character, then an animation would play, but he would jump back after a while. What’s with the delay?
• What’s that sound, someone screaming?
• Shouldn’t the characters have already realised that the base is next to the treasure when the woman first told them?
Cliff-place
• Yay, menu! Now I can save, or not. This is getting irritating. I really don’t want to have to watch that beginning scene again.
• What’s with all of the bracketed stuff in item and skill descriptions?
• I see the save point now. Why have it in the menu if you can only access it from the crystal?
• Nice, unique menu by the way, and I’m not being sarcastic.
• Icons are inconsistent.
I typed this out in word while I was playing the demo, so you'll see a few "Where's the--Oh, I see it. Nevermind."s
