And So She Waits (Her Lullaby)

Hi everyone, this is a song I wrote and sang based on the story of Do You Remember My Lullaby, about a young single mother waiting for her son to come home on Christmas night. Sorry for the accent, hopefully it's somewhat understandable with the lyrics sheet!

Lyrics:
Snow falls through the night sky
Descend upon a humble home
Inside its walls sits a silent girl
Alongside lies an old wooden box

And so she stares
And so she sighs
And so she waits

She told herself she will be strong somehow
She told herself she is just wrong again
Snow falls from the rooftops
She eagerly glances at the door

The room dims as a candle dies
Still lit enough to see her face
She opens the box and the music rings
She frowns and hums along

And still she stares
And still she sighs
And still she waits

Remembering to wish upon tonight
Remembering that only song he loved
She gracefully stood at the window
She held her hands up to the sky

And so she sang
Her lullaby
Into the night

***

And so she waits
And so she waits
And so she waits

She told her self she'd wait 'til dawn arises
She told her self it won't be long from now
She told her self that she is certain
She told her self that she has faith

Oooooooo
Oooooooo, ooh
Oooooooh
She told herself that she is strong

But still she waits
And still she waits
And still she waits..

Wow. You have an awesome voice Reives...
Sounds like something you'd hear on one of those old christmas time disney-esque movies...

did you seriously bump a thread from January with a song? it doesn't seem like an incidental piece; why couldn't this go in Music Analysis?

Thanks Cat, glad ya enjoyed it. And mawk, yep, I certainly just did with a straight face. It's a song that is literally tied to Lullaby by telling its story through lyrics, and hence I found it logical to be posted under Lullaby's thread to the specific target audience who actually watched Lullaby itself. It is a part of the project, after all. Perhaps I should've explained it, though - hope you understand!

I really don't. it's inspired by the game, yeah, but it's not tied to the game itself beyond that, and it's hardly an update to the actual project. this is pretty transparent, imo

ideally this should have gone in Musical Analysis for critique with a link back to this thread to explain it

I say that but then I remember what happened the last and only time you posted for critique

(it got critique)

(it was good critique)

(this was not in line with your expectations)

Eh, but again, don't you think it's fair to post it here to be visible to the audiences who watched Lullaby, since it literally is based on it?

I definitely should post this in the Music board in the future though. And lol.

Oh oops, that last comment was posted while I was writing my last post. Thanks for the heads up, I'll try to see if I can fix them up this weekend.

seeing as no one's posted since January I don't know what audience you're talking about. it'd be just as effective simply making a topic in MA referring to this and leaving dead things to stay dead

p.s. don't "fix them up." just ditch them entirely. plain text with maybe an embedded image or two is just as effective, and looks better to boot. these things are just tacky and give the impression that you're really conceited about your work.

I really don't know why you are being so uptight about this whole thing.

Hm, I was just hoping to bring back some memories of scenes from Lullaby for those who watched it, as they listen to the song. You might have a point though, I'll take note on it!

uh

what

also my point was that the attention for this game isn't centralized in this thread anymore. the audience has forgotten about it. the delivery would be just as effective in MA as it would be here

oh hey moot point

Okay, I understand.

@Mawk:
I was just drawing on personal experience. Say, there was a product and many people didn't enjoy it, while a few did (say, me, for the sake of argument). I posted on its forum for a couple of weeks (which is longer than the average feedback participation span) and then went on with my busy life of dictatorship. But that doesn't mean that if something is released in the future about the project, that I don't want to know about it. My last post was just pointing out that just because a thread is not up to date, the people who once viewed it can certainly still be around.

I just thought that it was related enough to interest the relevant audience - i.e. a lyrical version of the Star Wars theme might've interested the Star Wars audience (despite potentially hating it).

But look, if this keeps on dragging on like this, I'll just apologize and have this done with, heheh. We both got better things to do with our time.

Edit:
I edited the first post and made the lyrics text. Cheers!
