Your pencil art submission is jaw dropping, man. But I do have one problem with it ... (After agreeing with what Ratty said)

HIS left pectoral seems to be flexing. I've been telling myself that's because his left arm is turned towards his body causing a number of antagonistic movements to occur, But I feel it's a little exaggerated. If you have noticable pectorals yourself, Do the motion that he is doing and examine the muscle movements. Our body's muscular system works together as a team, If one muscle moves, So do the surrounding muscles to make that movement possible.

You're so fucking good at this, though. Man I'm jealous!

OK, starting with something small, My first digital painting imma start with this dragon. I already outlined what i want and put in a light source.

Still wipping. I blocked in all my shades and tones. Light source and all that. Now im goin to bump up the resolution and start refining the shapes. Might not look like much now but it will be better...promise

I think it's a nice start. Be careful not to lose the facial expression when you paint, it seems like you ignored the cheek muscles and brow, but it's alright because it's so early in development; better safe to be reminded of something you know already than to go over it in another pass and forget something important.

If you're feeling frustrated with Photoshop I imagine it might be due to its total inability to simulate natural media.  Try Corel Painter or ArtRage! they are awesome for transitioning from natural media to digital.

I like how you colored the armor on this guy. It looks like the armor's coating is wearing off revealing a gold-ish undercoat.
