Not sure if you can post in Events and Contests as I've never tried (or even been to that forum, just clicked on topics) but that would be the correct place for this thread, and just create a new one once everything is submitted into the Resource Analysis.
However, after saying that, I think this is a very interesting idea. Sounds fun, but sadly I have no experience spriting anything that isn't already sprited, I.E. creating from scartch, even if building off a previous sprite. I'd love to see what people could come up with.
