hima, this is absolutely fantastic. im playing it right now and its incredible for something made in such a short amount of time. Plus, im using Xpadder so it feels like an authentic snes style beat-em-up

Its a tad easy so far, but the graphics and control scheme is wonderful. Great stuff man. This is def. a huge contender for the contest.

I reccommend everyone try this!

Wow thank you! I'm surprised you said that the game is easy. Maybe I'm just terrible at beat'em up and platformer lol. What do you think about the puzzle? Do you find it too easy or too hard? Should I add more hints, etc?

Anyway, glad that you like the game! As I've said earlier( somewhere ) , this is my first beat'em up and platformer so there are things that I'm not sure whether I implement it right or not. And yeah, using a gamepad is MUCH better :D

Tried it. I managed to miss that you can double jump which made the snail really fun until I realized there had to be a double jump. I got to the part where things are raining down. I didn't figure out what to do there, but I didn't try for long either.

Anyway, looks good so far. Controls were responsive and the physics seemed to work smoothly. I also liked the style. Transformation is way to expensive though. Either the MP bar should charge up faster or the transformation eat up less. The power of the transformations hardly justifies such a high cost.

Thanks for your input, Crystalgate! I'll make sure I'll look into that.

As for the part you got stuck, here's what you need to do.
Shrink yourself and go through the hole in the tree to destroy the Plant Spitter. He'll move back and forth between two sides so you need to follow him. After you beat him, you can go on to the next section

There's an easier way to beat the snail without double jump too.
Use giant transformation and hit him while he's rolling toward you. He'll get knocked out and give you more time to beat him up :D

I finished the demo. I must admit the Big Alice was rather powerful against the last boss, in particular the fact that she can't be knocked away was a major advantage. I earlier suggested either charging the bar faster or make the transformation cost less. I'm definitely suggesting the first option now, if the big transformation lasts longer you can cheese bosses way to easily.

Actually, the Big Alice seems powerful enough against bosses, but not so powerful against cannon fodder enemies. Sure, she kills them faster just like she kills bosses faster, but that never seemed so important against cannon fodder enemies.

I've yet to use Small Alice except when needed. One problem is that you can't use her superior evasive abilities to actually solve problems. Big Alice can kill enemies faster and thus be used to quickly solve problems. Dodging will however not solve the problem, the enemies will keep attacking until they're dead. Unless Small Alice can kill enemies before reverting, she will not help much. Maybe she needs a longer duration than Big Alice?

I somehow managed to forget about the projectile attack. It's near useless against the first enemy type and after a few rooms I failed to remember it. I'll try to remember about the projectile attack next time I play.

I like the actual ideas though. If you can get the balance right the game will be really fun.

Edit: I replayed it and killed the last boss with one combo as Big Alice. That definitely didn't happen before.

Great information there, Crystalgate. Really helps me a lot. I'll look into how can I make Small Alice more balance. It seems like players don't use Small Alice by choice but only when a puzzle is required.

Do you think Big Alice deals too much damage or is it reasonable? The one combo kill didn't happen to me too...maybe something went wrong( again , ugh ) X(

Anyway, glad to hear that you like the game so far!

The one combo kill very much looked like a bug. As for Big Alice, I think it's more like she's especially effective against the last boss in the demo. That boss relies on knocking Alice away and since Big Alice cannot be knocked away, the boss becomes a sitting duck. Big Alice wasn't that brutal against the snail.

Ah that's good to hear then. I think I'll have to do something so that Big Alice isn't too powerful against Kathypillar :S

Anyway, I was stupid and accidentally deleted the demo from my server. Could anybody please upload it for me?
