these are not bad,,

but they look a little pillow shaded. :S also very dull. I do think these are a good start to your spriting life. but there are lots of little additions and changes that would make these look great. myself am looking into learning to sprite and i would be happy if this is how i started out. im sure other people can go into more detail :D

I am very impressed, particularly by the faces. I'll be adding faces as a category to the HKCP soon, so yours would make a nice addition :D

The front views on the shirts are a might pillow shaded. I think adding a highlight color, or what looks like a highlight color, may make it "pop" more. However, I like the other views very much. I think they may only look drab because they're only in grey tones, which, in excess, tend to make sprites look kinda dull/lifeless. If you threw in a bright color, or blended some more blues/purples in with the grey values, I think your work would get that extra boost in glamor!

I especially like the hair, except I think the backview could perhaps get a little more strand-detail.

Otherwise you're quite the talent!! Nice to see you contributing!!! :D

I tried to remedy the pillow-shading and put in some blue/purple hues as well.  At the end there's a recolour in a more vibrant pink.  Am I going in the right direction with this?:

Also, Venetia, I'm glad you like the faces; I'd be happy to have them added to the HKCP!  I like to experiment with the faces, so if I come up with any other edits I'll post them.  For now, I'll go add that head to the first post.

Dang, I love that hair! I second the things Ven mentioned above, so I won't repeat them. That pink shirt does look better, would be nice to see it in a few other vibrant colours like that. Good job, keep going!

I really like these sprites.
I think they really should be used for the HKCP...
But I think we need some amors and some other fantasy/knighty stuff for the HKCP.

Give people time Oburi, all contributions are good contributions I guess.  If they manage to make it really take off people will become more motivated to make new things.

Yeah, hopefully as time goes by the HKCP will have a nice assortment of pieces.  As this is the first time I've tried spriting a Half-Kaizer, I tried to do something relatively easy for practice.  :smile:

Firstly, ignore the shirts in side and back view for now.  Looking at them now, I suddenly realized they suck (or have I just been looking at them for too long? Haha... :dead.  Please do continue give your opinions on the colour choice and shading on the front views, however.  Also, I reworked the hair (both the colours and shading) for all views.

Yes!! I love these quite a lot, now. I have no further crit's for them, aside from that I wouldn't mind a few more brightly-colored shirts.

For the faces (THANK YOU FOR RECOLORING THEM TO THE SKIN TONES), can you set them up so that they'd fit automatically on a sprite sheet? Just trying to make this easy for everyone :P. Of course, I can do it, if you don't feel like it

Whenever you're ready to submit them, just shoot me a PM with the set (preferably, as a rar or zip). I can also give you my email addy so you don't even have to upload them again in the future if you like.

Would you prefer to be credited as Akaire or Akki? :D

I do have a question about setting up the faces.  I had to erase a small piece of the template to shape the nose and mouth, so when the heads are superimposed on a normal HK template they look a bit funny.  (Just ask if my explanation isn't clear enough.) Would that be a problem?

I know you said to ignore the side view but it looks good to me, except that your right-facing view is apparently just a mirror of the left so of course it needs its own shading.

No, it wouldn't be a big problem. We'll just note that the user should delete the heads of the template when superimposing faces :D

Last update for today.   :dead:

I've replaced all the old stuff from the first post now so that everything is up to date.  New colours, shading and all.  And I re-shaded the right view as well (Thanks Nphyx).  The repositioned heads are there too - I made one version with the head alone, and one which still has part of the neck and shoulder on it, as a guide.  Just in case.

I *think* I'm content with how everything looks, at least at the moment. >_<;
