Portal in RMVX

~Story~
You wake up in a lab full of killer robots, lava pits, buttons and doors and all you have is a gun that shoots portals. (Will think of story soon)

This is basically Portal in RMVX with events, no scripts at all. I aim to get 20 puzzles made.

~About~
It's a simple game. When I saw this button http://www.rmxp.org/forums/Themes/aqua/ ... action.gif[/img] I thought, why doesn't someone make a portal gun for rpg maker? And I did.
This game uses no scripts at all! Just custom graphics by me, lots of complicated events by myself and sounds by valve...

I think you should redo the fade from when passing between portals. I dunno maybe like try a kind of fade or something. This one takes a little bit to long and boring

Love it though, I like these kind of games

2nd level is easy, I guess that means I need to add a small hint at the bottom of the screen for that one!
When you shoot the same portal colour at it's own portal, it moves the portal closer to the player, like aiming at the floor closer to the player.
 
Ya, I JUST figured that out after I posted which is why I deleted. Ya I think a tip would be nice because I didn't know you could do that.

Very nice concept though, I think if you could also add somekind of boss battle or something that would also add to the complexity

Boss battle will come at the end of the game.
Right now I'm getting a weighted cube puzzle working.

Make it more original? My inspiration came from this button http://www.rmxp.org/forums/Themes/aqua/ ... action.gif[/img] so using the word Action seemed more fitting to honour the button.

It's fun but kind of easy, needs more challenges!
But I guess it's sort of limited by 2d and all that.

Demo 2
Added 5 more puzzles, including Cube puzzles and a Missile puzzle.
Puzzle 10 is the hardest yet, I myself find it hard to complete, there is a glitch where the tile behind the missile launcher acts as lava, but it doesn't effect how to defeat the boss, just means you can't use a portal as a lava bridge at that point, but if you have common sense you wouldn't do that anyway.
Game.exe has a custom Icon made by myself.
Added some doodads such as CCTV cams, a radio and a bed.
Added GLaDOS voices.
Custom Game Over screen.
All this with just an extra 0.2mb on the zip folder! Compressing audios really cut down file size.
 
Some stuff I noticed:

-If you shoot a portal at a closed door, wait a bit, and then hit the switch the opens the door the portal will start moving again.
-If you step on a red portal on lava you'll teleport to the blue portal, then die. Blue portal on lava you die immediately. Hmm.
-A game over screen that lets you continue would be nice (a blank map with a Show Choices branch that quits to title/teleports you to the start of the room)
-It's possible to get both portals on the same tile if you stand next to and face a wall then fire both. Fortunately you don't get stuck in an infinite loop when you step on the double portal, but it looks weird.
-It would help more to say how to move the cube than to say it can press a button for you.
-I couldn't pick up the cube in the second room with one, so I was stuck. :<
-If GLaDOS is saying something and you die she'll say the game over SE at the same time, dunno if you can cancel the previous speech when that happens.

I have this problem all the time when I do these kind of events. Not much I can do to fix it really, atleast the portal entrance doesn't slide around when it's generated, just the beam, so it's not an issue it just looks weird.

Does this matter? You still die  :thumb: But I can't figure out why it's happening.

That's why it brings up the save menu when you start the room, so you can continue from it if you gameover

I know this, but it makes sense to the player why it's happening so it's not an issue, i don't need to remove it. I actually think it's good to keep this in, where else can the portals go?

I will do this! I need people to tell me these things because it's obvious to me, as the creator, so I can't tell when I need a hint.

That cube is glitched for some reason. You need to stand next to it and face it when pressing C, not on it  :crazy: I will get to fixing this.

I would have to change allllll the events with game overs to fix this...I'll get started now!
 
And on that note, project discontinued in favour of super secret project, where some of the used events from Action VX will be appearing.
