Acting White/Black/Hispanic/etc. How is that defined?

Too many of the people that I've seen trying to emulate such like this not only try to be cool, but make it a goal to insist to you that it is cool. To the point of being aggravatingly like a religious fanatic trying to convert you. And trying to "educate" them is just about as pointless as saying "there is no God." That's where my main aggravation lies. My secondary aggravation is just that it looks and sounds stupid when they do it, but I'm a little more willing to overlook that.

I have to wonder... What's so important about someone adopting a culture that they're not familiar with anyway?

Immigrants do it all the time. They're practically forced to.

I've been told recently that "if you use ebonics you are acting black. otherwise you are acting white. unless you have one of them accents"

LOL but those people are probably the same people who don't like non-american blacks.

True that, but there is such thing as acting like a stereotype. When they say "Acting like a race", it's just short for "Acting like the 'norm'".

I, and my family, are Black. We grew up in the East projects, moved to Chicago, then Benton Harbor Michigan. My uncle, cousin, and sister were killed in gang accidents, our heat and lights were always turned off, and I fought everyday.

Apparently, that is the definition of 'acting black.' and everyday I see a, no offense, 'another race' trying to act like that because they're too sick of their own culture, it makes me think back to the days when it was 10 below zero outside and we had no heat for weeks.

And people want to live like that to be cool.

Now, at the same time, I don't liek it when people say that Black folks are 'dumb' or 'improper' for wearing or acting differently. Remember the slave days? That's where 'ghetto slang' came from. Black folks not liking 'white' folks? Slave times. Clothes? Slaves. Love for everything on the pigs? (I loved pigs feet, chitlens, and bacon). Slaves. Their slave owners introduced that to them.

Now, obviously no one had it harder than them. Many people will say "No, the Jews did during the Genocide". Yes, they were killed instantly, many of them for a few years. But it was instant, and for a few years. more than 300 years contributed to slavery, torturing, hanging. Hot lead poured down their throats.

Wait, where am I going? I gotta stay away from the symposium.
