A Song of Ice and Fire!

I did a search, but I didn't find anything on it... I hope this kinda of thread (discussion thread) is allowed. >.<

I remember owning the first book a long time ago, but I was too young to read and then it got thrown away when I moved. But I have recently picked the series back up, all books except the new unreleased book, and have very much enjoyed it. The story, I think, is extremely good and the characters are pretty fleshed out, especially the Targaryen and the Starks. I started reading because of the TV series, which is fantastic. A bit is changed, I noticed, but overall its been really good so far (epi 5 being the worse, if there was "worse" episodes lol), so I wanted to see what you guys thought about the books and TV show, and hopefully get some discussion out of it. So far, I'm on book 1 page 279.

So, what do you guys think of it?

As someone who never has read the books, I was surprised and slightly put off by the cursing in the dialog. I am not offended by crude language (in fact, I typically use it), but it seemed out of place in a medieval fantasy setting.

But I'm sure I would enjoy the series if I were to read the books. Plenty of my friends love it.

I think a lot of people swore during the medieval times, especially drunkards, kings, knights and farmers.

The books are amazing, though swearing happens a lot in it. The characters are absolutely charming. There isn't a character that isn't deeply developed and easy to like xD

You should give the books a chance :D
