A girl killed over love outside her religion

Once again, killing someone is against the commandments (or however they're called in the Koran) of the Muslims/Islam believers. It's the fanatic idea that makes them go mad, by someone telling them to go angry against [...] for getting a shitload of virgin women in afterlife... it's just the same as you could tell a Christan that he'd get 50 bucks from you if he beats the fuck out of his classmate - the action itself has nothing to do with the religion, aside from being against the 'rules', the executers just get blinded by the gain they're promised, so please don't confuse this with the religion itself.

I am not referring this to the religion. I'm not saying the religion is the one that makes them do that, because they are plenty of other good Muslims out there that don't kill or hurt other people. Whether they think they are doing the village or town a favor by misinterpreting the beliefs of the religion, or whether they are doing it for some other gain that's up to the person doing the act.

One thing I thnk I need to point, though: Muslim is anything but the correct word, Hisuwashi... in the Islam, you neither kill, nor glorify killing. Just like you can't just call the Islamic extremists Muslims that easy - they're extremists, and you shouldn't judge Muslims from them.

Yeah, sorry I didn't make that clear. I agree with Grandor. I think Islam is a great religion, one of my good friend's dad is a Muslim. Just there are groups such as the Al Qaeda misinterpreting the teachings of the Quran (pardon my ignorance, but I'm not too familiar with the text myself, but I intend to read it at some point) and giving it a bad name. Same thing goes for organizations such as the Ku Klux Klan, misinterpreting Christianity.

Unfortunately the architects of the misinterpretation present themselves as religious leaders. Instead of reading the plain text of their religious teachings themselves the extremists are tricked into believing that the texts mean something other than what they say on their face by people who claim to have special insight or wisdom. These "religious leaders" are believed because people who desire power and control over other people invariably insert power structures into the traditions of every religion early in its history, and people like them who follow in their wake latch on to and expand those ideas. I'm no expert on Islam, but it's plain to me in many other popular religions. See if you can find a pope anywhere in the bible by reading its plain text, for instance. You won't. You need some 'special insight' to divine the concept from the texts. Not to offend any present catholics.

People like that have very well developed techniques to make sure their followers don't ask too many questions or think too hard for themselves. In another parallel, ask yourself when and why the concept of patriotism in a representative government evolved from "preservation of the common values of the country" to "agreeing with and supporting everything the government does." See if you can find anything in the constitution of your government that supports some of the political ideas taken for granted in your country. You might be surprised how much 'special knowledge' you need to draw similar conclusions from the face of the document.

Sorry, now that I read over that it sounds a little crazy and cryptic. Basically, I just want to encourage people to think first and draw conclusions second in all things that affect their lives, and I want to do it without planting any presuppositions. Once you've done that you're actually entitled to your beliefs, whatever they may be. : )

Nphyx (what a horrible name to spell, dude! :p ): I realized an essentially same thing when discussing the whole Bible thing with Christians. Every other minute, you hear something like "That's what's written there, but what it means is [...]". Well, the leaders of course'd have to do the same, and then there are people using that to tell wrong facts about it, using it for their own gain - first example coming into my mind'd be Elijah Muhammad, who was mentioned in Malcolm X's Autobiography, but I could also mention names like Osama Bin Laden. Then, there are others that aren't 'religious leaders' in the way both of us meant it before: Parents. If they tell a child what's right, they'll most likely believe it, even more in muslim families, which have a very strong parental authority. You can see the results in the first post...

Yeah I guess you could say "religious authorities" rather than leaders and make a bigger blanket category which includes everyone who decides they know more than the next guy about a set of beliefs. And my name isn't so bad, it's just 5 letters! : )

Sick. Seriously... members of 1 religion killing someone (their own family, too!) because of love!
What would motivate someone do do this horrible thing?
Isn't religion supposed to promote fairness and equality to other human beings? And yet, because of this, some girl who loved someone from a different religion had stones thrown at her and was stomped on by her own family!
I'm not even gonna look for the video... I'm not one to sit quietly and watch people dying...
